Had to visit this place after seeing this video. Found myself on the last day at Ryes right before it closed and the food was freaking bomb. The scotch eggs were amazing and the meatloaf was succulent and tender. Very sad this place is now gone and awaiting Cal Elliott's next restaurant!

This guy has it figured out. He doesn-t care whether or not he makes money in his business (at least in the beginning) and he makes food that he would love to eat and just experiments, that-s the recipe for the perfect comfort food

I used to go out to eat a lot. I rarely do now. I bought a slow cooker and that was it. That-s when I decided that I no longer need restaurants; I-ll just eat my amazing slow cooked ribs until I die of heart failure

In every kitchen, pizza shop, restaurant, Italian spot, and fine dining joint, are a group of hardworking and dedicated latinos/latinas. So let's give them a shout out cuz they make the great food we all love!

Rye didn-t renew its lease because the landlord jacked up the price. That-s Brooklyn and New York in general for you. Cal-s back in Boise, ID working on a new restaurant space but it-s not open yet.

Trying to think of a fitting description. This guy seems happy go lucky. polar opposite of how many chefs are. What a great attitude and disposition! Anyone know what he started after his place closed?

this guy-s got a good spirit, super realistic--edit: even if his restaurant is closed. I-ve got no doubts he-s cooking for the right reasons for the right people.

I've never had fried Lotus or sea urchin paste but I'm pretty sure I prefer the grilled cheese hands down any day. The fried Lotus did look pretty though: -)
