I don't think we can get Espoma here in Australia. It's a shame because I'd love to know more. Laura, I have another question. Would you consider doing an advice blog, vlog, video thingy for people who are starting from scratch with their garden? We dug our front yard up over 5 months ago and are finally having water lines re run this spring and can finally start planting but I have no idea where to start. It is a flat 14m by 9m area. Trees first? Grass, rock, gravel, raised beds, shade, sun? I have no idea about any of it. I kill most plants but I LOVE to garden lol! I would appreciate advice.

Got a Q can't find anywhere answered.
Nellie Stevens Hollies, spring time just pruned massively due to lanky limbs. (neighbor cut oak canopy back and they got full sun in the heat last year, didn't catch in time.
When I apply the fertilizer now, in spring, WHERE IS MY DRIP LINE NOW? Do I want to reach the old roots that not longer have limbs as I just pruned them away? Or do I focus on the new drip line on the SVELT new trim holly drip line?
And there isn't much leaves to drip to a drip line. At such a time of pruning do we proceed differently?

Glad for update at the end of video! I purchased Holly Tone for my arborvitaes because I saw you use it earlier in the season. Since I live in the Boise area I have pretty much the same weather conditions but will check on my soil types, which I never considered before! Learn so much from you videos! ALSO, received my Garden Answer hoodie in the mail today. might have to order another it so so nice!

As BlaBla mentioned, there are local labs and/or the local extension office that will do a soil test for you, for a fee (depending on what tests you want - for nutrients, pH, etc. Master gardeners recommend this way to test your soil in your yard & garden. Another great video! And yes, you do talk fast, but you speak clearly. This older lady can always rerun the parts she missed! ;)

I love the info, its going to make a huge difference I'm sure! One question: what do I do in beds where plants are right next to each other that prefer different fertilizer ( the plant tone vs Hollytone)
PS- Next time, pls speak slower when giving specific ratios for fertilizer to shrub/tree size! I had to pause & rewind each time to catch what you said!

Are there fertilizer opposites? Can you have opposite things in the same area? Could you have a hydrangea that turned out half pink and half blue? I am going to buy Holly Tone now. But I wonder if that means I should not put some other fertilizer on this list of plants.

Is the high desert in Oregon the same thing as the high desert in California? Because I see a lot of green where you live and more brown landscapes where my mom lives. Im very confused. Haha! I grew up in Puerto Rico and Maryland, so this is all new to me.

Holly Tone is the best fertilizer I have ever used. I get great results in my gardens. I order 50# sacks from Amazon. My husband uses the Tomato Tone in the vegetable garden, super plants. He has to trim the tomato tops back so they don't get too tall!

SO DID YOU PREP YOUR SOIL WITH FERTILIZER EVERY TIME YOU SWITCHED OUT A CROP? I know you credited your incredible veggie success this year to your fertilizer. How did you apply it?
