How Im Storing My Produce Garden Answer Betty: Have you ever used a pressure canner? Used to be I would come home from working at Med clinic on Friday nite never knew if just daughter be there for supper or if she would bring the other 4 cheer leaders with her. When she did that I was very thankful I had canned some white potatoes. I would open at jar of canned potatoes drain slice them start frying then go to frig for the left overs. Veggies and meat. Start browning the potatoes and then start adding left overs. Supper was called hash when done cooking put on plates fry an egg put on top and toast some bread to go with. They must have liked it because every home game there they were and they knew what they would be eating. T was tired but enjoyed the girls. What is so nice is having memories like that. Sorry I keep bothering you with my memories.

Totally not related to the video but I thought Id ask (I hope you see it and reply. I bought a Chinese evergreen in a 4 inch pot online and when I was about to repot it 2 days after getting it, there was white, hairy mold looking thing on the soil and the base of the plant. So I removed most of the soil and repotted it. Couple days later I looked at it and the molds are back. I sprayed the base of the plant with some anti fungal/bug killer spray and soaked the soil with it too. left it under the sun for a few hours. A day later, the molds are back. Is this plant done for?

Love the video as you were touring the basement I kept envisioning a canning kitchen down there. A fun old antique stove next to the fireplace and some fun old farmhouse cabinets for all your canning supplies and a great big island in the center for the work. You could even put in a veggie shoot through the window so you would not have to carry everything in the house and down the stairs just pop it in the shoot from outside in the yard.

I recommend the book Putting Foods By, mine was bought many moons ago and is the 4th Edition, by Janet Greene, Ruth Hertzberg, and Beatrice Vaughan.
It covers the best ways to can, freeze, pickle, dry, cute and preserve. Freezing for the microwave, making Christmas presents, etc.
My favorite recipe is the Minnesota Tomato Mixture, excellent for spaghetti, chili, soups and pasta dishes.

You are such an inspiration and Im definitely planning to grow more vegetables next year. Watching this video reminded me of my grandparents farm where they had buildings and root cellar to store they harvest even a room full of canned food. I was young and couldnt begin to appreciate the work involved or how wonderful fresh/home grown stored vegetables are. Once again Thank You.

This temperature sweet spot is an issue for me. Basements in these newer homes are all insulated so the temperatuer down there is almost as warm as the rest of the house. Right now I'm struggling to figure out where to store my dahlias, cannas, etc. because I have no where that stays in that temperature sweet spot. You're lucky to have this great storage area!

I love that storage rack! One tip regarding the home canned goods. Take off those rings and do not stack them. The reason you do this is because if a lid does lose its seal, it will be evident. if you store with the rings on or stacked, the pressure from each will cause a false seal and you could unknowingly eat spoiled food.

Former servants quarter the lies. Lol. Not a judgement of laura or Aaron- they're amazing. Sardonic comment of white society and the denial of slave owning history. Equivalent to Hitler supporters, or mccarthyism supporters, or anti-MLK. they all hide through sociopathic diction.

I know this isnt related to the video, but Do you have any videos on building a planter around a tree and the best types of flowers or foliage to dress up the planter. Ive been thinking of doing like a sort of retaining wall planter around a few of my trees in my backyard

Now I want to start canning! Can you do a video on canning tomatoes and other things? It's really neat that you grow your own food, can it or store it, and then eat it. If we all did a little bit of this, we'd all be healthier and the environment would be cleaner as well.
