Plant Spotlight: Diamond Frost, Diamond Mountain and Diamond Snow Garden Answer Julie: Hi Laura, I have a question about the Salvia you used in your raised brick bed. It appears it's the same variety of salvia you use in other places around your garden. You gave nothing but great things to say about it. The question I've been meaning to ask you for a while now is, how does it smell? I think I have the same variety here in PA, but the salvia I have in my garden beds smell like cat pee. Very strong cat pee. It's awful and I think highly of pulling the plants every year, yet I do notice very much how the bees live it. But yuck the smell. Just wondering about your experience. Thanks! :)

I've been in love with Diamond Frost for several years after seeing it in an historical lighthouse garden here in Southern, NJ. The gardener there told me what it was. He had it planted in a cottage garden in between zinnias, echinacea and peonies and it was just like someone threw fairy dust like diamonds into that garden. It was so airy! I had never seen it before but have used it every year since! This video made me want to try both the snow and mountain varieties this year too! Just love how it blooms all season! Stephanie

LOVE these plants - I got one diamond frost, put it in a hanging basket last spring, and it is still there and still looking good. We live in Florida, but still you guys, it is still there! I never protected it from frost nor from the 5 freezes we have had and it's still there. I can't wait to try these other two varieties in larger pots like she has shown. What a bang for your buck plant. That would make a good name for a series of plants like these LOL.

Hi Laura! I've observed that the container recipes on the proven winners website often put plants together with different light requirements. even opposites. (Full shade vs. full sun) I'd love to use some of these recipes but feel unsure of myself with not knowing if they'll be successful because of the plant differences? What are your thoughts on this? Are these recipes somehow possible for an advanced gardener? If so, what is the secret?

I love the smaller one the Diamond Snow, since I have smaller areas and pots. I hope to find these and try them in my garden. Thank you so much Laura for this video, and the different varieties of this beautiful plant. I wouldn't mind trying to overwinter these it would be a money saver. I am loving your enclosed porch and all of the plants in there, that is a goal of mine. I hope you have a great week, bye for now.

I appreciate that you came right out and stated that this video is an out and out commercial for Proven Winners. I never begrudge anyone from making money! But I also appreciate the integrity you show. Y stating that you have a clear objective in this video selling specific products for PW. I too happen to think two of these three plants are terrific in the garden or in containers.

Hi Laura! I've had the Diamond Frost before and used it almost every year in containers and loved it. I'm hoping to find the Diamond Snow this year, too. I like how full it is. That was a good tip on the coleus because I'm considering getting some this year and now know not to pot them together. Also, my pots aren't that big. Thank ypu so much for sharing this! Amazing video!

Great overview. I will definitely try them in my containers. I might even try the Diamond Frost in the veggie garden just to add some beauty among the carrots. Do you think, it would be ok? Also: can I overwinter them indoors (so can I keep them as tender perennials? You mentioned that you had one through the winter, so I assume that you can. Thank you.

Wow I wish I would of watched this video before purchasing 3 at my local nursery. I saw you using it many times in your gardening videos but did not know there were 3 different kinds. I think I got 2 different ones in the 3 I purchased of course I threw away the tags after planting. Thank you my fault on being behind on videos.

Your videos are amazing! I have learned so much from you. I purchased the Diamond Frost 2 weeks ago and planted them with my purple Pentas in a container, the pair is a dynamic duo. The container looks spectacular with the addition on the Diamond Frost. Thank you for the introduction of this Diamond series, I love them!
