Seed Haul & Prepping for 2021! Garden Answer Amelia: I have recently set up an Excel spreadsheet in strict alphabetical order, exactly the same as my seeds are stored, in 2l ice-cream containers in the fridge (8 so far. The only exceptions are one container each for beans and peas and that doesn't include things like dried peas for indoor pea shoots. If you have columns for the categories you want (eg category of plant or month of sowing) you can select anything you want. I have added Sow By (on packet or estimated) so that I can see what might need to be replaced. That way I can do germination tests on old seeds before they're discarded. Most old seed will produce something, even if the germination rate is poor. I do like the CD containers, but the ice-cream containers keep out the light and the plastic doesn't become brittle in the cold of the fridge. Apart from the cost of the ice-cream, they were free.

Here in FL I had a summer without many blossoms. My hydrangea NEVER flowered. My roses were sparse, crepe Myrtles too. I separate my seeds into three big tins: herbs, flowers, and veggies. So i gathered all my zinnias seeds, some older than others, and planted them in pots in August. Well. What grew has tremendous sized leaves. But methinks it is squash. I know my packets were all labeled zinnias! This is nuts!

Watching this in Jan 2021. Seeds are still available right now, luckily. I just placed my order yesterday, Jan 2nd. I am so excited to have a vegetable garden again, it's been 10 years! This video is so packed full of info but 1st thing I'll be doing is organizing! Good luck to us all in the new year and may you and baby girl have a healthy smooth happy delivery!

In your spreadsheets you should notate the one the germinate badly lol and anything else you notice. That way you can track them throughout the years. Also, maybe notate where you purchased the seeds. Perhaps the garden center has ones that do fabulous by the same seed from Jonnys does poorly. It would be nice to know those things.

I tried 10 varieties of Johnny's seeds last year. Sadly only the Persian Cress, Starflower, and three Zinnia plants grew from all I planted. We have so many birds in our area, though. Is it possible the seeds were discovered even when lightly covered in soil, and then eaten by the birds?

You live so close to me! Everyone else I watch on here are so far away and totally different climates. I live in Union Oregon only two hours from Ontario. I am going to make a trip to Andrews seeds. I didn't realize there was a place so close that I could by bulk seed! Thank you so much.

Ive got a hand in a cast and a therapy boot on one foot and am pretty immobile. This video gave me inspiration to catalog my seeds, make lists for next year, and continue planning the organization of my little potting shed and garden for next year. Thank you!

In order to LOVE eating zucchinis, just get a traditional Italian cookbook and there are so many delicious recipes, even one that contains zucchini flowers. Also, zucchini is so much more delicious when harvested young - no more than 7-8 inches long, and still shiny.

Whats the name of your parents website? Would their seeds be viable for eastern Ontario Canada? This video was really good! Thank you wishing you all the best edit I see the website name in the description! Still curious though if these seeds would work here?

It would be so good if you could do a lot more flower bouquet videos, that is, if you have the time and energy. Also more cooking videos focusing on using your own videos. Thank you for all of your beautiful garden videos. You have inspired me so much.
