Planting Sweet Peas & Fertilizing the Lawn!
video description
Amazed at the interest and enthusiasm that Aaron has in your outside projects. Does he enjoy the gardening as much as the infrastructure projects? Thinking some of the transplants could go into new flower beds around the lonely urns in the formal-back garden [the one with the huge broken fountain? ]. That would help to put off 'restructuring' for awhile. just a thought.

So how do I harden off plants that are coming from inside my house? My setup is literally pots full of bulbs and tubers (first year of dahlias) in our guest bedroom with one UV light bulb. I'm planning on bringing everything out this weekend, but don't have a cold-frame or protected area to put them before they go in the ground. I figured I'd just let them sit out on the patio - but they are going to get a TON of sun here in Northwest Arkansas (also a zone 6b.

HI Laura- How much are you running your drip to flower beds and watering your lawn right now. Last year at this time we installed our landscaping and because the lawn needed so much water to establish I think we ended up over watering everything! It was so stressful to watch all our hard work slowly suffer and some die. So now I'm terrified of making the same mistake and have barely run anything. (probably not good either -HELP) PS- we live Eagle/Boise area

My mom planted her sweet peas on Washingtons Birthday in February. My Dad dug a very deep trench full of manure and stuff in the Fall for the following Spring. Then shed freeze each little round seed in ice cube trays. Planting the ice cubes is how she controlled spacing. Until that one time I came home from school and made koolaid.
Sweet peas are my favorite. She had a bouquet every other day all summer. Im looking forward to seeing yours grow!

Sorry the vid went so fast at adding plants to the soil part. Did you just plant into the compost or did you stir the compost into the soil to mix better? I saw no trowel so assume you just spread the compost and planted into it. I tried to plant my roots into amended soil and if you didnt mix the native soil in, I would have loved to see that. Either way, got mine in yesterday and glad to see I was in your good company. :) Happy Spring to all!

Happy birthday, Laura! Hope you had an awesome one, spent with your family and doing something you love! When I think of all the people you have touched and inspired with your positive energy and genuine sweetness, I can only pray that you and your family will be richly blessed. You always make a bad day better! Keep doing good and inspiring the gardening world to be an inspiration to the people around us!

Laura, since you have a special relationship with Espoma, perhaps you can encourage them to utilize recyclable bags or paper boxes for their bagged productst. I love their products, too, but prefer not to add more plastic waste to landfills (because the bags are not recyclable, for the sake of the environment. Thanks for everything you and your husband do!

Laura, if youre not sure your sweet pea panels are tall enough, why not configure some arches above them by connecting a flexible rod from one side to the other? That would be beautiful! Good luck!
P. s. if you love this idea and want to thank me, Ill gladly accept an old pair of your felcos.

Does Aaron know how the Espoma Lawn Food compares to Milorganite (another organic fertilizer? Ive been curious to try the Espoma lawn products since I love their garden fertilizers. Curious how you both think the Espoma lawn line compares to other lawn care products youve used. Thanks guys
