Spreading Fall Fertilizer & Soil Amendments On the Lawn!
video description
So now that is also an idea, it would be much more maintenance with just keeping the mulch I know the chickens will kick into the grass off it lol, one of the reasons I was going to just do mulch pathways. I still also love the idea of a cobblestone pathway though, especially with the formal cottage vibe I'm hoping to create, but having a grass patch for my dog and flock will once again have to be added lol. Living in Minnesota, it gets pretty wet pretty frequently, so I wonder how the grass pathways would hold up to that with as much traffic as they will get while wet? My dog's high traffic areas usually turn to mud, though we don't have a nice grass yard to start with, so, Idk.

Hey Aaron, when you get through with your lawn just come on to Tennessee and do mine. It will only take you about 30 minutes to do my whole yard. Shoot, Laura you just come to ( and the kids) and I can get some pointers on what to plant and play with the kiddos. We can even load up and go over and visit Jenny and Jerry. Only takes about 5 hours to drive to NC. lol. Your yard is going to be so pretty and green next year. Wait, never mind it is pretty and green this year. Walking on your grass will be like walking on carpet. My husband is going on a hunting trip so I might sneak and put some seed and fertilizer on our lawn. lol. Aaron are you sure you aren't kin to my husband? If he works on our vehicles or his boat he comes in looking like he's been in a fight with a bobcat or it looks like he needs stitches somewhere on his body. His reply when I say, Honey you need to get that stitched up. Is to walk over to the sink, wash it really well, dry his hands and slap a bandages on it and go back to work just like you did.

I have always seen and used Weed and Feed lawn fertilizers. I always have to be careful around flower beds and shrubs. Kind of fun to think that whatever is good for the lawn is going to be good for the flowers. Your weed spraying regimen takes care of the weeds. I like that.
Can you tell us how you make and maintain the circle around your trees in the lawn (end of video, just over Laura's shoulder? I've heard a tree should be slightly elevated. How do you decide how high to plant a tree in relation to the lawn? The lawn and trees look wonderful!
Sorry about the drone accident, Aaron! Hope you heal quickly!

So glad Aaron didnt get seriously hurt with the drone. A few years back, Enrique Iglesias almost lost a few fingers because of a drone accident while he was performing on stage. He kept performing, but he had to go to the hospital afterwards. He suffered a fracture that needed to be corrected in addition to the reconstructive surgery. He also had to have therapy so he could regain the feeling back in fingers. Hopefully Aaron learned his lesson lol.

We can get soil testing for free most of the year from County Cooperative Extension. Peak-season soil testing fees are set to take effect December 1 through March 31, 2022, pending final approval by the N. C. Board of Agriculture at its November 19 meeting.
Submitting soil samples to the N. C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Agronomic Services lab before that date will mean growers and homeowners can avoid the $4 per sample fee.

Do you ever use weed control as part of your grass treatment? That's the normal routine in Ohio in spring/summer. Would fertilizer alone take care of weeds by choking them out with thick grass? If we don't use weed control - we get clover, dandelions, crab grass, wild violet, etc. Should it be a combination of some fertilizer only and some weed control? And since it's fall - do you mulch leaves into the grass or bag?

Hi Laura and Aaron! That is a lot of product you have to use, but it's so worth it to have such beautiful lawns. It wouldn't look that good if you didn't do all of that. Aaron, I know the lawns are your areas to take care of and you've been doing a great job on them! Sorry the drone got you! Hope you heal quickly! Thank you so much for sharing!

From Minnesota: Fall is a great time to over seed grass. The annual weeds are dying out and the perennial weeds are going dormant. All your efforts are going towards the turf. Ive also dormant seeded grass after the ground has frozen with good results in the following Spring.
Love your videos and your inspiration. Aaron is the Lawnranger!

Gypsum is what saved my garden. heavy Indiana clay soil. Nothing was growing well after built the house. An elderly woman told me about gypsum. Saved the bushes that landscapers put in. After all these years my soil is now amended beautifully my stuff grows no matter what I plant, it has been a lifesaver. Clay suffocates the roots!
