Planting Full Sun Summer Containers! Garden Answer AtHomeWithSheree: They are already gorgeous and they havent filled in yet. Im anxious to see how the new garden area develops. It is a huge space and I can only imagine the flowers and shrubs youll choose for the space. Thanks for the continuous inspiration. Im gonna head out to start planting my containers-our gardens are just waking up here in zone 4. But weve skipped spring and gone straight in to summer!

Hi Laura! Ive followed all of your gardening techniques and my garden is booming! But yesterday we had the biggest hailstorm in my cities history and all of the beautiful flowers had holes in them. I also have sumac trees here in Northern California just one more thing. I have the climate that has crepe myrtles lining almost every single street, and believe me they dont like hail

Hi Laura and Aaron! The driveway urns will be pretty once the plants get bigger. I like the two urns on the West side the best with the bright pop of color of the geraniums. I do hope you will completely remove the triangle garden, too. It looks really off now, more so then before, especially with the boxwoods looking so bad. JMO! LOL! Thank you so much for sharing!

I love all your suggestions and your garden tours! I have a question regarding planting containers. When you add your potting soil with fertilizer (mine says feeds for 9 months) do you also add additional fertilizer on top or do you wait and add it at a later time? I dont want to burn any of my plants. Also, how often should you feed petunias? Hope to hear back

My husband is commenting while Laura casually talks about just popping those 50 pound containers on the porch when the temps get below 40. Hes like yeah, shes gonna forget about it and ask Aaron at 10: 00 at night when hes settled into his lounge chair in his lounge attire, Honey, could you quick pop those pots into the porch for me?

Whenever I punch into my brown drip tubing to run the thinner spaghetti tubing with an emitter to a plant, I get a lot of leakage around that punch point that often causes puddles in the garden where I don't want it. Anyone else have that problem? Any solutions to minimize? Is there a particular brand of connector that leaks less?

These containers are lovely Laura. Ive never been a big fan of petunias, although I admit they do make an impact, but I have to say it is a refreshing change to see you planting up pots without the supertunias. I do love the phlox, and am excited to see that corner garden develop. Thank you so much for taking us along on the journey!

Family question: I can't help but notice what a calm and well behaved boy Benjamin is. This concerns me. I have to wonder is Aaron giving him all the stompings, chewin's, tickling's, clobbering's and general jack wagon rough housing that every little guy should get from his dad?

I was excited to see you using the prince tut grass along with the bright pink geranium because thats what I had planted in two matching pots! I added the trailing coleus (cant remember the name, white bacopa and the dark purple Angelonia. Theyre doing great so far!

Hydrangeas if you leave the spent blooms on, more stems, leaves and blooms will grow from them. From in between the flower heads any branches that break off can also be shoved into the ground and will grow on, just as easily as a succulent.
