Hyssops here in Indiana are very NOT reliable in terms of returning the following year. Every single pink, apricot, reddish one acted like an annual here. Blue Fortune on the other hand has more than once, done well in year one, was bigger and even better in year two, causing me to plant more in other locations. However summer 3 or 4 they'd show up much smaller and then vanish. Frustrating!
Many of the growers of that blue spruce state it grows 6-12 inches per year. Others claim it grows slowly. Others give the 10 year height as 6-8 feet. It isn't that any of these trees wakes up the spring it is 6 feet high and simply stops growing! Smoke bushes also get MUCH larger than the one you have right next to the spruce.

I am in love with hyssop. I have a variety that is so fragrant. The leaves as well. I love to gather the branches around my face and drink in the sent. I have blue fortune Agastache that is over 4 tall in its second year. It is such a lovely substantial bush with a nice anise/licorice flavored leaves. We have very heavy dear pressure here and the dear arent picky either, but they wont touch my hyssop because of its strong sent. Thank you Laura for bringing some attention to these wonderful plants!

Agastache is an amazing plant. The pollinators live on mine. One of my favorite Agastache is Golden Jubilee. You cant beat purple flowers on yellow/chartreuse leaves. I know some Ive the newer verities have a hard time coming back after a few years. Do you know if the proven winners verities have is issue? Knowing they are proven winners plants they will mostly likely not have this issue but I thought I would ask anyways.

Love the hyssops. Would love to see you planting more USA native species, or more specifically regional native species. I bet your area has some beautiful wildflowers. When you do native varieties they tend to be hybrids.
Will milkweed be a part of your garden someday?
The native regional species will require less water irrigation and fertilizer-less of a carbon footprint and better for the environment.

I want you to know, that you have taught me so much about gardening and I'm very appreciative! In the past, I've always had the thumb of death. After watching you again and again, I tried container plants around the pool. I live in Florida and the heat can be so brutal.
I've kept plants alive for 2 months now (which is a record for me! Thanks to your You Tube videos!

What is the self-seeding/profuse-spreading expectation for Proven Winner's Meant to Bee series of Agastache? While the Agastache Honey Bee Blue is an awesome performer (I love the look/scent, and the bees and butterflies love the nectar, it has REALLY spread this past year -- and I am constantly pulling it from the gravel paths around the raised beds. Guess I'll be dead-heading them OFTEN this year.

I planted blue (anise) hyssop a few years ago but it did not survive the winter (polar vortex. 2 years later a volunteer came up in a somewhat inconvenient place but I left it. Oh my. A volunteer developed next to it and I now have 2 very large plants 5 feet tall by 2 feet wide that the bumblebees just adore! I just know if I try moving them, with my luck they will likely die. Lol

I just bout 1 of the Blue Fortune Agastache -
as a trial plant in a full sun no dig bed I made last year! It is loving it there and is just now beginning to bloom! I love the blue color! Now I want more of them and I always chose an odd number as you suggested 1, 3, 5, 7 in groupings! Love that principle you taught us!

That blue spruce looks amazing in its spot, LOVE blue spruce!
I have to say, the south garden is coming along quite nicely! It is filling up the space, looks soooo good with the grass pathways. CANNOT wait to see what it will look like this fall and next spring. It will be ABSOLUTELY glorious!
You are such an inspiration, thank you.
