Just a couple days ago I had the opportunity to try a Strikemaster 40v for the first time on Pelican Lake. 1 battery cut probably 25 holes through 3 feet of clear ice (no snow, all gone by now. I was beyond impressed. It cut smoothly with tons of torque through that 3 feet of ice in probably just under 20 seconds. I'm still literally SMACKING MYSELF for getting a Jiffy e6 lightning instead of the strikemaster to save 50 bucks. I might just have to get a strikemaster anyway next winter.

Hey Jay. Question for you. How much downward pressure are you using with the auger? Im having trouble with mine stalling out every hole I drill, when its just about to break through the bottom of the ice. Some say you HAVE to let gravity push it down and if you put too much pressure itll stall it out. Have you noticed this at all? Im not buying this theory. Thanks!

I know that the Eskimo 40CC has been out for awhile and is not as good as the electric ones but you should do a video on it. I use it and can probably drill 100 holes if not more on a 1 lb propane tank and I keep it outside in -20 degrees and it fires right up. Of course it's not as quick and smooth cutting as an electric auger but I think it has its benefits

Before watching this video, I actually told my wife this same day that electric augers scare me. But after watching this, I think I want one. If I only use part of the battery each time out, will it hurt to charge it every time, or do these batteries have a certain amount of charging cycles? Thanks! Awesome review!

I have one of these augers, have never killed the battery and am super impressed with it. it does jam in the bottom of the hole when trying to punch through the bottom of the ice layer occasionally, but all in all I like it a lot more than my old jiffy which weighs about 40 pounds. great video Jay!

Great review! Rewatching as I decide which unit I want to purchase. Trying to decide between 24V unit and 40V unit. Down here in MI, I believe that I can probably live with the 24v. unit, particularly for the early season, when we have less than 10 inches many years.

Those of us that that only had gas sugers know the pain gas augers can be. Like every trip we had to fix that in some way, just a PIA. I did like this video. I use the Fuel and the Pistol Bit, with the 12 amp hr battery, works great!

I just bought this auger at the end of December 2020. Picking it up today. I laughed when you talked about winterizing the auger. Wouldn't you Summerize the auger for storage?
