Thanks for cook and showing everyone what shark fin soup is about, what you cook was great but it's not the right way, you must taste the traditional shark fin soup from Hong Kong before you can compare with anyone. Back in the 60 and 70's I use to have lots good shark fin soup from San Francisco chinatown it was so good and very expensive, now due to the regulation for harvesting the shark fin which I agree with you stop people from killing all the sharks for profit. I enjoy all your catch and cook and learn lots good tips from you you are a great chef, keep up the good work and keep those viedo coming in it was very educational.

You did everything right. Shark Fins Soup is a status symbol in China/Hong Kong/Taiwan. A very common banquet dish back in the days. Some people like to add a dash of red rice vinegar upon serving (do not add vinegar during the cooking process) to cut the richness of the stock & that gelatinous texture of the connecting tissue. The Singaporean-Chinese/Malaysian-Chinese likes to drop a dash of Cognac to the bowl to enhance the aroma.

DISCLAIMER: I do not condone Shark finning out at sea! The fins you see in this video were harvested after catching a highly sustainable shark species, the Atlantic Blacktip shark. We ate the entire shark not just the fins! Blacktip Sharks are plentiful and are a highly sustainable food source according to NOAA.

Most of the time people eat shark fin soup for the natural collegen in the cartilage. Next time mix in crab or lobster meat next time to the shark fin soup, they add to the richness and you can boil the shells in the broth to tie in the flavors too.

If you live in apart of the world with a big shark population and you legally can kill like 1 or 2 Id say why not try it but people should not take the fins then though the bodys away that is cruel and horrible to do

Great video. Very respectfully done. I'm glad to know now what shark fin soup is all about. That sand/scales from the skin, if you look at it magnified it tiny shark teeth. Its called dermal denticle.

Shark finning is very bad for your body, it has extremely high levels of mercury and I don't recommend eating it often. As a shark lover this video made me pretty sad: (
