In this episode Im in central Georgia chasing a subspecies of bass only found in 3 rivers in Georgia: the shoal bass. These bass look like a cross between smallmouth and spotted bass, and theyre known for their strong fight in swift current. We land a few MONSTERS. Watch until the end for a funny request from me

I fished alot on the Flint, mostly at Flat Shoals and Dripping Rock. If you like this area thank then Gov Carter for requesting the Corp of Eng to stop the building of a dam at Spewell Bluff, if you fish there try using a lure that imitates a crawfish, I always found them in their stomachs when cleaning those small mouths. and the red belly bream are great there also especially with a flyrod.

I love to see all of the gorgeous places you fish, the great people you meet, and all of the techniques for catching tons of different fish. I do have a hard time watching those fish out of the water for such a long time though. Any chance you could get them in a net and keep them in the water while you show them to us?

What rod and reel brand are you using? The View from the patio of the toy hauler is nice and that's why I'm going to get one after my physical therapy is over and I can walk again right now I'm stuck hopping on one leg. She came off right in your face like that, almost sounds like a good thing. Lol

Shoal bass fight harder than strip bass. 5lb shoal fights like a 10lb striper. I live local and float the upper Chattahoochee. Mossy creek to belton bridge. Early summer after 1 week of non rain is best. Water is crystal clear. Chatter bait with a white fluke is the lure of choice

Nice fish, great video as always! Everybody saying how pretty this looks, I can't wait for you to get to upstate NY lol. Never heard of a shoal bass before, I might have to put it on the list. Maybe I will spend some time in Georgia this summer on my way home from Florida!

Wow, Nice vid and what a cool life! I came across this while researching shoal bass fishing on the Chipola river here in NW Florida, which FWC touts as the only pure strain species left. I guess it's the only one you missed before leaving. Ha Best wishes man! Brady

Shoal bass are a great catch, and always fun. That sprewell to 36 float is overfished, but otherwise, anything south of it is very nice fishing. Loved the video, a good perspective on a beautiful river!

I fish the Flint all the time just north of Lake Blackshear, but i've never caught any of these type of bass, in Macon County, Can anybody tell me if im too far south for these fish or what?

It's wonderful to watch you fish. I love fish, but I'm a widow and I can't afford a fresh fish and you are bless to throw them back. If you come to Connecticut please drop some off.

I was going to use this line but I think someone like Hank Parker used it. Would have to research it. LOL
And remember. I'll catch you next time. If I don't catch a fish first
