Very good sturdy roto-moulded kayaks, are widely available for well under 500. 00. I have seen the drive like in your boat for under 400. 00. The mold would not be any more expensive to make for a boat that accommodates the drive system. There is no reason other than excessive greed for the price point of this boat to be over 1, 000. 00 at the max. Hobie, which arguably is the best brand, and they invented this type of drive now offers a pedal powered kayak for only 1300. 00. Yes that Hobie is has an ABS hull. There however is absolutely nothing wrong with an ABS 2 piece hull. They have a proven track record, of over fifty years. I know I had 2 Snark sailboats, that both lasted for decades. The stresses on a sail boat are much harsher than the stresses on a pedal powered kayak. A pedal drive simply cannot come close to the forces generated by the wind on a sail. Your product is grossly overpriced, as are all of the pedal powered kayaks. The prices will continue to drop rapidly as more kayak manufactures get into the pedal boat market. In just a few years boats comparable to yours will be less than 800. 00. There are already a couple with propeller pedal drives under 1, 000. 00. Sense the patent has expired on the type of drive you are using, nothing is stopping others from making them. Hobie will have the only reversible fin type drive for a long time to come. They can get a premium for that and for the fact that their quality has decades of proven reliability. Unknown companies with no track records cannot charge such premiums.

I just started my Kayak research and I heard about your Kayaks through, Nattie up North on youtube a while back. So just now, I searched YouTube for Lightning Strike Kayak reviews, scrolled down and randomly picked this video first! I am impressed and I might just go with your Kayak.
I am also going to look at Wilderness Systems, Bonafide and Brooklyn Kayak Co. So far, what is selling me on yours is the integrated front and rear carry handles. Only thing left to research is the seat heights. I am over 6 feet tall and my back gets sore when using regular leisure Kayaks.
Anyway, I'll get back to you after making my choice.

Wow it seems unless you want to give it away people wanna complain. I bet if you give it away then they would complain it did not come with 500. Ha. I think this is an awesome price point for everything this boat has. And no reverse? Big deal. My current kayak has reverse and the lakes I fish around here had grass and hydrilla always getting into the prop so I have to paddle it all the darn time. I bet I paddle this one without reverse a lot less. So glad ACK finally looks like they have them in stock. Gonna pick one up today if they do.

Honestly though if Walmart can sell a pretty damn good fishing kayak for under 300 bucks you're telling me they can't remove some plastic and add a pedal drive and make it under five hundred bucks? They sell whole bicycles for 50 how expensive could a pedal drive possibly be to make this whole thing is outrageous. If any of these company care to see us out on the water they would do exactly that take a damn 300 kayak put some pedal drive on it and there we go we're all fishing together with smiles on our face

I cant believe all the haters. I have looked long and hard kicked around a lot of ideas and brands. Even though an Aggie help make this LOL I just bought one. For the price point you cant get the extras that this yak comes with or even close. Robert I have a few questions that I would like to ask you about this boat. Is there a way I can get in touch with you

ridiculous! A solo skiff that will negotiate the same waters (or shallower) and is motorized is a much better alternative. The only thing more ridiculous than these overpriced vessels are the motors that are being retrofitted into these things to try and take the kayak out of the kayak.

Starting price 1, 700. Your competing with hobie at that price point and for a new design and company, it's going to be tough. But best of luck, I usually root for the underdogs anyways. I wish you fellas could offer a functional peddle drive for 1000. That would be game changer.

The big problem is you can by a kayak made in China with peddle drive. Pay 1800. Then try to buy a similar kayak made in America is 2500
Thats 700, a significant difference. Especially if a husband and wife want to buy identical kayaks, now it's 1400. thats a huge difference
