Black Marlin Fishing from Kayaks -- Australia Ep 5

In the 5th and final episode from the Australia leg of this trip, we're giving one last crack at a black marlin from the kayaks. The week has been tough, with nothing but sharks attacking our baits. Despite that, this trip has taught me that fishing isn't about the fish; it's about the people that this sport brings together. The real harvest from Australia has been the new friendships formed and old bonds strengthened. This is what fishing is REALLY about

Robert I think what I enjoy or rather why I enjoy your adventures is that you know it isn't just about fishing. I started an organization in Canada that introduces wounded Soldiers to fly fishing for their physical and spiritual rehabilitation.
One day I brought two new Corporals to fish with a Major who lost both legs in Afghanistan. They started talking and kept talking and I sat and shut up. After an hour and a half the Major (rank counts for nothing there) looked at me and said Geez our rods never came out of the cases? Then he paused and said, This isn't about fishing is it.
I smiled and turned because I am humbled by these men and women and I shed tears every day, not out of sympathy for our soldiers, but out of anger that it cost gas money and some time to change lives and theirs was not the only life changed.
Fishing is healing, building relationships and confidence. Nuff said.

Rob, I'm not an expert by a long shot but! I think adding the human into your videos is a good call. People don't watch many videos for just fishing especially yours. From what I've seen you've always shared the Human part of your videos in the stories you tell. It's why myself an many others watch your entire video. There are thousands and thousands of fishing youtubes out there. Keep killin it bro.

Recently just started kayak fishing, and because of that I have been on YouTube researching my brains out and have loved coming across your Field Trips series. Love what youre doing, love how youre doing it and after watching this episode and the experiences youve had, it makes me even more proud to call myself an Australian! Keep up the incredible work!

Enjoy life and experience it gives, afterall you cant get bit by a roo in America. Fish are fish, they live life as they do, not to just entertain humans. Thats why nets were created to exploit them because they dont participate in being caught at will. If you havent caught it dont eat it!

Rewatching prolly a 3rd time. fishing is awesome, Ive done it my whole life. Its my passion, for sure. but as time goes by, the thing I remember the least? The fish. Its the people you meet, the friends you make are who you remember forever.

So true man! It takes about 600 ) yrs for fishing line untill it decays. Thanks for taking care of our environment!
Apart from that, I love your videos! Great stuff!
Cheers from Germany,

When you were driving, how many times did you turn the windshield wipers on trying to use your turn signals? I have been in Thailand for over three years now and I still do it sometimes.
