Mahi mahi, sailfish, and big sharks all make an appearance in this kayak fishing episode from a trip to South Florida. In Part 1 of Robert Field's Extreme Offshore Kayak Fishing miniseries, Robert takes the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro from Dallas, TX to Pompano Beach, FL to prefish for the Extreme Kayak Fishing Summer Slam I Tournament. On day 1, Robert heads out with Brian Nelli from Pushin' Water Kayak Charters in hopes of landing his first sailfish or mahi mahi from the kayak. After a slow start and a visit from a big shark, the action heats up in a big way. Stay tuned for Part 2, where Robert will try to knock out one of his ultimate bucket list species later in the trip

You must have saved up some serious cash to have all that gear? Each boat with all the accessories must be close to 10, 000. Amazing to me. The guide dude is way cool and it looks like youre having fun. A friend of mine told me to not work too long as you get so physically handicapped that you are really limited in what you can do? What is the purpose of the red line? You dont have to worry about sharks? I always wear my life vest when Im on the water. My life has only depended upon my life vest twice and when you need it there is no warning and no time to put it on! So I agree 100%; always wear your life vest, Tom Purtzer

Up front I'm speaking as a novice who has only fished blue water once in my life. But about 8: 20 it seems to be a sketchy situation, where he brought that fish in way too close with the amount of fight it had left. All it would have taken would have been one flip of the tail, for your buddy to have been impaled through the chest. It was pointed right at him.

Cool video. How come beginning at 9: 03, you begin to revive and release the sailfish, and you are not wearing a glove on the hand holding the bill. Then it keeps switching between the above and underwater view as you revive the fish, but every time it is the underwater view, you are wearing a glove, and above water, you are not?

Hang on, did I miss something? When he was releasing the sailfish he wasn't wearing a glove but the underwater shots showed that he was wearing a glove and also it looked like a marlin?

Its crazy how good you are at juggling a camera, a gaff, and having a fish on all at the same time. I would end up in the water if I tried that. lol

Did anybody notice in the release footage she was using his right hand no glove. And then the underwater footage left hand with a glove
