why does Jensen have so man damn spatulas? I mean I like a good spatula, my wife says i'm obsessed with them....but i have like 6, he had like 20. He looks better in leather than I do, and has superior spatula figures. and his kitchen is noice. i could make like 30 lbs of pulled pork and a few gooey butter cakes in there....i'll settle with making one gooey butter cake today in my average kitchen.
On a more serious note, I was (kinda still am) frustrated I couldn't get my paws on a 3080 but it's cause I have a 1080ti and have been waiting to pass that to my 7 year old cause he wants to stream. Which I only have my original 980 for him at the moment. He also wanted a computer cubby so I've built out a closet like cubby, lined with sound dampening material, and am installing LED with diffuser rails this weekend while he's at my sisters, so I was really wanting to surprise him with this, cause he's 7 and I haven't been able to take him places this summer, like theme parks and such. So I've gone all out on a little streaming set up build for him, to go along with a bicycle build so we have and indoor and outdoor activity to do, depending on the weather) Just for those still reading this long comment, I will closely monitor his streaming, I'm working on getting his accounts all set up and have dual monitors for him (one is on my desk so I can see what he's doing at all times). But there is no rush here, he can still play the games he wants, as can I, I just want one of these scalpers to help me with general labor so they can see what they've delayed a little bit by being a dick.

Thanks for this content. Very timely and relevant for me as I tried to buy a 3080 at launch time from 4-5 online retailers here in Australia. They were all crashing right from launch time. Over a 90 minute period, I got a card into two carts between lots of timeouts but wasn't able to get to a completed purchase on either one before the stock ran out and the sites finally became stable.
I was bummed, but got over it after a good night's sleep. So your comments about keeping things in perspective were spot on from my pov.
I pre-ordered a card today with no info from the seller about when it might be fulfilled so was trying to find any general info about potential restocking times. This content was exactly what I was looking to find. Thank you! Overall, I'll be happy if the retail online site I ordered from gets new stock in every 2 or so days, but suspect that Australia might not get restocking as fast as the US. I guess I'd still be satisfied if I got the card by mid-October. I'm building a new PC so a little excited to just get the parts and move on with the build!

As a 1080Ti owner - most of the games i actually play ( E-Sports titles ) on my 1080p 240Hz - the GPU is just fine, turn few details lower and you're popping, but more single-playery games on my 1440p ultrawide i am almost always GPU bound so i am actually looking to buy a new GPU, the keynote was amazing, stuff like DLSS or all the kinds of RTX enabled features are nice, but i am more in the bracket FPS over Quality Why would i want to play a game which is gorgeous to look at, but it's choppy or badly optimised?
Also, it was obvious that given the hand-picked games and the Double the RT cores and Tensor cores would generally mean double the RTX performance - the Keynote isn't there as a tribute for enthusiasts, it's to make you want to buy the card, which actually worked as it seems.
If you do not care about the money, be my guest, buy it on Day-1 but if you can't get it now and you saved the money, just wait a month or two, see what AMD has to offer and then make your educated decision for a GPU which will last you another 3-4 years :)

It happens every time something new becomes available companies hype the shit out of their product which is ok but the real thing to be pissed at is companies dont even prepare for the sales they will get and they can tell their projected sales based on previous data, then you have the OMFG price hikes of up to 70% price increases for the non founders edition cards from stores. esp in australia. this same theme will repeat itself for amd and intel. i would like to upgrade to the founders edition because i actually thinks its a refreshing design than the bog stock standard boring designs being released to public but not available any time soon. What we have in australia is go into a lottery to hopefully win the draw to potentially purchase the card Nvidia that is a joke . Delay your launch so you can actually service your clients and stamp out the price gouging of your partner cards. this happens because you have nfi whom you client base is.

Here is how this can be curbed:
1. The shopping terms of service should read:
A. Use of purchasing bot or script will be treated as an attempt at fraud and any IP addresses, and financial accounts, physical addresses and email accounts tied to the bot or script will be blacklisted for 24 months. Law enforcement may become involved.
B. All orders over X amount volume and/or price in value will be delayed for X business days to determine if a purchasing bot or script was used. If not, the buyer's account is charged, and product/s shipped.
C. If after the account has been charged and orders shipped a bot or script was found to have been used any IP addresses, and financial accounts, physical addresses, and email accounts tied to the bot or script will be blacklisted for 48 months. Law enforcement may become involved.

I'm so tired of the scalping in the world now. It's such a scummy way to do things. I'm not mad about not being able to purchase the 30 series, because I have no intention of upgrading from my 2080 any time soon, super happy with how my build performs as is. But the fact that every time a new tech comes out, the Switch, new hyped up GPUs, new consoles, are scooped up so other people can profit off of others. If they want to do that so bad, open up a retail shop, but you won't be able to markup the prices so poorly. Granted I'm sure soon enough, stock will come back for those who want to buy it, but it's just really saddening to see how badly people want to make a quick buck off of someone else's expense. But then again, we do very much live in late stage capitalism America where personal greed comes before anything else.

I feel a bit bummed because I need my father to finally have a graphics card. His r7 370 died a few month ago and he's running on igpu since that. But he wants to fly fs2020 but can only do it in a smeary 640x480 resolution with render resolution set to 0.25x. You can't see the speed you're going. As I will upgrade mine no matter what, I want him to have it. He says to me he's willing to pay any price and just fly but I can't buy him a 1660 super and just sit on the e-waste, which my 1080 would then be. Nvidia said its available at 3. I checked until 3:15 and then again at 3:40. It seemed like it was available a few minutes later and at 3:50 already sold out

Having been responsible for production in a manufacturing factory the list of factors that affect produced quantities is long, there are supply chain issues which all have the same issues in their own facility. Increasing the supply for just a new release will increase costs significantly therefore the selling price, the goal is to balance production with overall anticipated demand. Production rate is usually already set at the fastest speed that is physically possible leaving the options of starting production earlier or a second production line, both of which has issues which are difficult to overcome.

The best way to counter bots is to wait until you actually have a decent amount of stock before running your launch.
Consistently being massively short on launches => More value in people running bots and scalping.
They could have just waited another month to release.
PS - Very hard to take comments about 'not being pissed at something' from someone that has that item, early.
How happy would you be if you weren't sent a review copy and had to release your 3080 reviews 3 months from now - No matter what you claim I'd say 'pretty pissed' would be fair.

Really this concerns me over the 3060. I don't have the budget for anything more, assuming it goes for 300- 350, but I really don't want to be waiting on it until 2021. I'll be building a new system and don't have any spare parts for it, so I can't just run a lesser card for a while. These things aren't going to launch until November at the earliest, and at this rate they won't be actually available until January. I'm hoping that not many people are going to want to buy it since the big deal is the 3070/3080, but I really can't rely on that.
