Thanks intel...... we should just fine these companies into oblivion. intel makes so much they could give this new NUC away, every last one of them. cause they don't care about yield either as they wont expect to sell as many, so they are over charging the consumer for a in house bloated design niche product. I honestly want to to just start throwing computers at people that work for these companies maybe the brain damage incurred will be a sufficient toll for shafting society at this point,
Cause people that's what has happened, in the form of 10 trillion dollars over 2 years companies like intel have been the primary beneficiary of this wealth transfer, why do we stand for this shit?

I just wonder, in terms of E-Waste, price only having to swap out the CPU module and GPU and the reusability of the box what it compares to buying 2 PC because I feel that goal of this product is kinda ruled out when you don't keep it in mind you want to upgrade in the future, initial you might spend more money, but on upgrade, the cost is lower, the E-Waste is smaller... I wish that would be more considered than just recommending buying something cheaper because in the long term it might be cheaper...???

It seems like a really neat product and I'm excited to see Intel 10nm finally handle a little more voltage than previously. Would you consider doing a liquid cooling mod to see how the 11900KB compares to the 11900K if both are at 125w tdp? I think it could provide some really interesting results
Nitpicky sidenote: the 11900KB is a 10nm++ CPU. Cannon lake was 10nm, and Ice Lake was 10nm+. It's too bad its taken so long to finally see 10nm come to the desktop segment

I don't get how, while not being able to give a comparable, you feel it's okay to say it's not worth it. That is what we would call non constructive criticism and is pointless. Honestly it's just a horrible practice and GN should know better by now.
.
If
This = Bad
Then
That = Good
Needs to follow.
All forms of logic would tell you that if not this then this needs to be filled in. So fill it in or don't say it in the first place.

That fan control logic is embarassing, such a simple bit of maths to create a linear ramp that results in a stable combination of temp/fan speed. Its the audible nature of the yoyoing that is insane. In laptops it is very obvious because they are so close the user (2-3ft) and these lessons were learned a long time ago and even learned to deal with the wild swings that are seen with intel turbo spiking power from nothing to maximum in milliseconds

Cannot find any good answers for that (or maybe I am searching it up wrong, most likely), but I am curious what exactly would happen if you plugged the computing element into a normal PC. Steve says it does not do anything exciting? That's kinda vague. Does it work? Does it work badly? Hell, even better, plug it into an AMD build. Wouldn't the CPU Intel gods smite the unbeliever with a lightning bolt?

It might be more difficult than you'd expect to move the CPU to the back side of the PCB, especially if they'd have to re-do a lot of work that this design lets them copy-paste from an existing reference implementation. Stuff like PCIE traces might also be harder to route, because the pinout of the chip probably was intended to minimize traces that have to cross over other traces

I really dont like the form factor. This is not a NUC its just another SFF-PC. The engineering is interesting but i really dont see any prctical benefit to the proprietary design. If they made it in a way so the Compute Element could be separated and function on its own with an external power adapter maybe even inside a desktop PC. But as it is now i find it very uninteresting...

I feel like the NUCs almost should be compared against high spec laptops. Both (in my opinion) have a similar use case in that they're ideal for people looking for something high spec that is highly portable (such as needing to take between parents houses or to work often). ITX PCs are more of a small tower than a mini pc so I don't really think they're that comparable.

The thing that lies at the base of the case is the motherboard. It is plain and simple. Yet it is the motherboard.
The cpu element as well as the gpu are daughterboards.
Some computers in the old days used this configuration
Pc dudes always refer the place where the cpu lies as the mobo, but this isnt always the case
