Ryzen 3000 RAM frequency, latency, uclock, mclock, and fclock matter more than anything else for the R9 3900X, 3700X, and 3600. We're looking for the best RAM for Ryzen. Sponsor: Get 10% off Squarespace purchases Buy a GSkill 3200MHz CL14 kit Or GSkill Royal 3600MHz CL16 Gigabyte X570 Master MSI X570 Godlike We benchmarked an AMD R9 3900X Ryzen 3000-series CPU with various kits of memory from HyperX (Kingston, Crucial (Micron, GSkill, Corsair, and GeIL across two motherboards (the X570 Aorus Master and X570 Godlike. This matrix of results allows us to have a fuller picture of truly bad memory/board combinations for Ryzen 3000 and demonstrates results scaling from low frequencies to high. Critically, we also tuned fclock, uclock, mclock, and the ratios between them, as we went. Kits include 2400MHz, 3000MHz, 3200MHz, 3600MHz, 3866MHz, 4000MHz, and overclocking up to 4200MHz, along with primary, secondary, and tertiary timing adjustments as needed. For the most part, we tested with XMP, but further manual tuning was also done, along with software-assisted manual tuning from Ryzen Memory Calculator. Remember, buying the best RAM for Ryzen 3000 isn't good enough -- you also need to buy the right motherboard with the RAM. If the memory isn't on the motherboard's QVL, it may exhibit exceptionally poor performance. We have a new GN store:

The RAMs on the QVL are the ones that they have TESTED. You also have to match the product codes if you really want to make sure. Looking for GB DDR4 MHz from manufacturer might not be enough at least it wasn't in my case. I almost gave up on a good buy because the kit they listed had a different product code because it was a different COLOUR. So I had to look up what the R means at the end of CMK16GX4M2B3200C16R which would mean a pretty red version of an otherwise identical kit. Did they list the non-coloured base version? Or any other colour version? Noooooo. Let the noobs do their research. Of course different manufacturers use completely different product codes so when you are on the 20th Ctrl+c Ctrl+v product code search while cross referencing with your vendors it stops being f cking funny. Some only list Samsung B-die kits. Or list one CL version but not another. No way most people go through all that when shopping for RAM. So f ck the QVL as far as I'm concerned. If you reeeally want to make sure that the kit will work as advertised and you can oc reliably to the values you want. ask someone that has the exact same setup: D Otherwise DDR4 is DDR4 for the vast majority of people. OK that is a bit oversimplified but you get the point.

I have a problem and I would appreciate if anyone with knowledge on the subject could help me. I bought an MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, Ryzen 7 3700X and I chose the RAM of the MSI compatibility list, which is Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200mhz 2x8gb sticks. Without A-XMP the pc boots everytime and the ram works at about 2100mhz. When I enable A-XMP from bios, it will boot after restart but when I switch the pc off and leave it for a few hours it won't boot properly from cold boot. The fans and LEDs all come on but it just does that, no signal to the screen and the CPU led lights up on the motherboard debugging and the pc just stays like that. When I press the restart button it boots up properly. And this happens everytime I leave it off for a long time. And when I restart it it will boot properly. Things I have tried that DON'T work: - I have updated BIOS to latest version. - I disabled fast booting from Windows. - I enabled ErP in bios. Things I have tried that DO work but not always and 1-2 out of 10 times will have the cold boot problem: - I disabled A-XMP and chose the ram to run at 3200mhz and FCLK at 1600mhz and voltage at 1, 35v.

Alright I have a predicament, hopefully I get some help. So i purchased the ryzen 9 3900x, motherboard i purchased for the 3900x is the ROG Strix X570-E and the ram I chose is the Corsair Platinum Dominator 3000mhz CL15 64g kit. The Domintor kit is compatible with intel xmp, the fact that its compatible with intel xmp has me worried however with some of the research I've done the CL15 modle of the Platinum Dominators have mixed reports of working with 3rd gen ryzen cpus but also not so much. So my question is should the Platinum Domintor 64g kit be fine with the 3900x? Corsair's AMD compatibility fourm has the Dominator CL15 under compatible but for the 16g kit but doesnt say anything about the 64g kit, I'm guessing the 64g kit would be better but still doesnt tell me much other than the 16g kit is compatible.

MSI and Gigabyte's BIOS's suck compared to ASUS. (we don't talk about ASRrock) Yet MSI, despite all these companies being Asian, actually listens to individuals reporting hardware issues with their motherboards and pumping out beta BIOS for people to try. (or at least they did when I last checked 1-2 years ago. From my years of building personal PCs, ASUS had a better out of the box experience compared to the other companies, but it seems like MSI has really caught up. Don't know who's the best now (so many more products on the market and I haven't built a PC in 3 years, besides the week old 3950x system I'm still doing testing on, but at least I know things are better than before. Well, minus the negative things ASUS did.

You talk rapidly, and throw-out a lot of data (numbers. My impression is that you need better infographics. Bar charts aren't all that useful for the large amount of data you are presenting, because you present many variables, often in the same sentence. I don't have a solution for you off the top of my head, other than to suggest that you read Prof. Edward Tufte's classic, The Visual Design of Quantitative Information. FWIW, I find your site to be much better than those of your competitors. It is clear that you are knowledgeable and care about presenting useful results, and that is to your credit.

Sure wish you would have tested the Team Group Dark Pro memory. Best budget 3200MHz\CAS 14\Samsung B die kit IMO. And not sure where you shop, but getting this memory is no problem in the states. I have bought two of these kits in the last year. What you also failed to clarify is that memory like this can run at higher MHz with looser timings. Buying these kits that advertise higher frequencies with relaxed timings is usually an overpriced solution when you can buy a kit like the one above for far less most of the time and just tune to your liking.

Hello everyone. Hope there is someone there who is willing to help me with my PC build. I have cl16 HyperX Predator 3200mHz 16gb one slot with Gigabyte x570 Gaming X and Ryzen 7 3800X. I build my PC, installed Windows, updated latest BIOS version and chipset driver, but my PC keeps crashing and freezing. I set up XMP profile on 3200 mHz and CL 16 in BIOS which is recomended for that memory. I even tried to set up frequency on 3133 but still crashin and also on other profiles. May anyone help me with these? What am I missing?

I have the x570 aorus mobo with the 3600 mhz neo kit. When I enter the info on the DRAM CALCULATOR (processor, mem type, profile version, mem. rank, freq, BCLK, dimm mod, and mobo type) it gives me no values after i click safe mode only ERROR pop up box of enter values and for that matter would someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. Wondering bc this video says he did so with the same board and mem sticks I must be doing something wrong. It is really bugging me. I would be really grateful for any help at all.

Ive been watching all of your videos and it seems like its going to be impossible for me to build a very good gaming pc correctly. I might waste alot of money in the process and make costly mistakes. Do you recommend any good pre built gaming PCs that have good wiring and aren t too much of a rip off? My budget is 3000 - 4000. EDIT: Ive decided to try to build my own and im going to keep watching these videos as well as scanning pc part builder for ideas and help: )

Uh, what I see from this is to ignore his recommendation of the G Skill CL 14 Trident Z (0. 1s faster) and instead get the CL 16 Corsair LPX kit for almost 1/2 the price, and not get a 1, 000 ) motherboard! I mean seriously, more cash than good sense some people have. get a life for god's sake. I would be embarassed to tell other adults that I spent that much to sit and play games. Seriously? To gain a handful of fps in games!
