THICKER Lats & WIDER Back Workout (Get An INSANE V-Taper)

Ready to blow up those lats again? Let's get after it! I wanted to run through some of the exercises I added back into my back workouts that reminded me what it's like to get an intense connection to those lats and wake up the next morning sore all the way up into my armpit. If you're someone who has trouble connecting or getting the width you want (that golden V-taper) then I think this is going to be a huge help to you

I came up with an exercise that lights up my lats, but I haven't found it described online. I call it the 'Vitruvian Pulldown' and it's done on a Freemotion Dual Cable Cross. I've been using 20 pounds on each side for 40 reps. I remove the accessory grips, and start with the cable arms close together in the highest position. I'm 6'3, so I need the height! Reaching straight up on tip-toes, I can just grab the two-inch plastic ball behind each snap hook. So, grip established, heels on the floor, starting with a good lat stretch, and keeping the arms straight, just sweep down to the left and right like you're making a snow angel. Hey, there's another name, 'Snow Angel Sweeps'! Anyway, I'm a little in the dark here, so feedback is appreciated.

I think it would be cool for you to do a video on your advice for isometric and eccentric contractions. When it's a good idea to use these forms and for what exercises they would work best on. I've tried these different kind of contractions on damn near everything I've done in the weight room and it's always fun to play around with the variations but ultimately I don't know which ones are probably going to get the most development out of me.

To all the critics of Mr. Humiston
I have read all critique on Ryan and I have lifted weights for 30
years. Live and let live for he is
a guru of sorts. Empty your cup
and learn. Get a. Physic like Ryan
Then speak. However if you truly
do work hard. enough that he has
and look like Ryan like him. maybe
you will learn the character that hard work produces and do your
thing be humble and work harder

Loved learning from this one. that last move was my favorite. Got a good laugh, after gym staff asked me what the hell I was doing + to please not 'overwork' their attachments. Thanks for another epic round three of my day! Maybe another session on wrist/forearm strength?

Just landed in to forced isolation at a hotel. I knew it was coming, so brought some bands and other bits and peaces. Adopted these exercises using bands - worked better than expected. Much appreciated; your videos are going to come in very handy over the next 5 days.

Could you do a video on a trap bar deadlift benefits correct form? I-m someone who wants to put on lean muscle and explosive power. Or a video on best exercises for explosive movements and becoming a strong athlete for team sports such as hockey and football (soccer)

Hey Ryan, thank you for another awesome video. Right before back day! Can you please make a video on feeling a better mind muscle connection in your non dominant side. It always seems like my mind muscle connection is weaker on the left side of my body.
reply

The exercises he shows gets better when you've developed the mind-muscle connection which allows you to mentally identify, focus on and feel that particular muscle. This takes time and is worth the continued effort to work on that connection.

Well, with moves like that last one, we all know Ryan works out in an empty gym. I have no doubt that it-s a very effective exercise. But you look silly as hell doing it. Makes me glad that I also have a garage gym. Lol

I'm curious, on the last exercise with the rope, what is the benefit of doing it bent over vs seated with arms overhead. Is there much of a difference? I will try out both regardless. Your back tips are always great.
