Ok. So he does leg extensions, two types of sissy squats, and pistol squats - all the exercises that put large amounts of pressure on the knee joint. And he was fine. -
So since Ryan was fine, we can assume that literally EVERYONE will be fine doing these exercises. -
Having a sample size of one, or operating on anecdotal evidence, is not a position from which you can make recommendations to an entire population. -
Sit down Ryan. -
-If you don't have bad knees. - - Yeah Ryan, if you don't have bad knees, then DON'T do these exercises. If your knees aren't bad, then keep them that way. You have PLENTY of good alternatives for training legs (squats, deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, reverse lunges, Bulgarian lunges, single-leg Romanian deadlifts) which work the legs and have a MUCH better risk-reward ration. -
-They really isolate the quads. - - Why would you want to isolate the quads? The quads are meant to work in concert with the other leg muscles. So train them that way. Isolating them puts far greater shear forces on your knee, which may or may not lead to a serious/chronic injury, depending on joint structure, genetics, etc. -
Do NOT gamble with your joints, or exercise selection. -
Oh wait, I just realized - you're a bodybuilder. Never mind then. Exercise science and safety are wasted on bodybuilders. To bodybuilders, size is all that matters, with the long-term health of the body taking a back seat. -
Honestly though, growing big muscles while simultaneously destroying your joints is an exercise in abject failure.

It depends on how u prepare your legs before the sissy squat. if its 4th or 5th exercise, you pumped blood to your VMO and glute medius and doing it with proper form then you wont have problems with it. You cant say it doesnt work or its a shitty exercise just because u are doing something wrong. All my clients including myself are doing sissy squats without any problems. I even had knee pain long before i started doing them and now im all good (I even consider they helped me with my knees because of strenghtening my VMO in a fully stretched position. You gotta understand simple biomechanics and start programming your workouts smart.

Actually liked this video, and to be honest ive -hated- most of them. Discussing the danger, discussing the grey umbrella ( there is no exercise that YOU NEED TO BE DOING, concise biomechanic discussion.
I do feel like in recent viideos you have tried to sell your variations as a black and white, end all be all, clickbait-to-the-wall:
-YOU NEED TO BE DOING-
-GROWTH SECRET-
-BUILD MUSCLE FASTER-
-NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS-

Ryan, please try this exercise and let me know what you think!
Sit down on your knees and lay back, with no hip flexion. This is a common quad stretch.
From that position, flex your quads until you're standing on your knees.
This is what I'd call a bodyweight leg extension, or just another variation on the sissy squat.

Ryan This was one of the best sissy squat videos out there. Your too humble. Question, would say for the older guys in their 60-s that has little muscle in the quads to stick with leg extension machine. I don-t have knee issues but don-t want any either.

I mean, if you know your body that-s fine, but still these are not the safest exercises by any means for your quads. Most of the time you won-t immediately feel the consequences of bad exercises/form, it comes down the road and it hits hard

I was literally having the worst leg day workout. I started watching your videos and you turned it into my best leg workout ever. The inside of my quad is jacked. This is never happened before. A heap of thanks!
