Ready for a cable only workout for bigger triceps? As you can tell by the thumbnail of this video that took me an hour to photoshop and create that weird fake light in the corner. I hit a full tricep cable workout this morning. I had someone comment on the last video (Cable Only Biceps) and said that there is no way you can build your arms up by only using cables. I don't know who that was but I look forward to meeting them one day, shaking their hand and telling them they are wrong. Cables are the ABSOLUTE best way to build your biceps & triceps. If you're someone who needs sets and reps: Rope Extensions (broken into two movements) - 3 sets / 20 reps Straight Bar Cable Extensions (30's) - 3 sets / (30/30/30) Lying Rope Extensions (slight incline with elbows locked in position)

Actually the tricep short head which is closest to the elbow tends to be underdeveloped on a lot of people like mine are, but mine are making dramatic improvements. If you can develop this muscle, I guarantee your whole arm will look bigger. One thing I started doing was experimenting with different variations of the close grip bench, varying the grip, the weight and even doing partial reps. One trick I started doing was full reps, and then when I got tired just lowering the bar less and less, sometimes going down only 1 or 2 inches until finally almost being unable to move the bar. Remember lockout on the bench is where your triceps short head come into full play. Another favorite is the palms-up triceps pushdown. You won't be able to use much weight, but it will blow those triceps up, once again, especially that short-head. I love those 30-30-30 tri-pushdowns featured in this video. I'm dying to try those out. Ryan, thanks for another awesome video too.

Great source of information. Could you give an explanation of how to set your shoulders for bicep and tricep exercises? For example, should I pull my shoulders back and locked in place or leave them loose and focus more on contracting bicep/tricep? I notice if i don't focus on keeping my shoulders locked in place, I can feel a bit of pull on my traps when performing curls.

Will these three exercises you listed be enough to hit all heads of the triceps?
In my current routine I do the following exercises for triceps, but I don't feel them engaged to full potential):
Cable triceps pushdowns, one DB Seated OverHead extentions, w/bar skullcrushers.

I work hard to make biceps and triceps build and I was wondering if the arm development depends on the foundation of the shoulders, etc. I have torn rotors and previous surgeries, and my shoulders never increase in size. Can this be impinging my arm development?

Good stuff! I don-t agree w the genetic cop out though. What about the guy w good genetics that barely ever trains and when he does has barely any form and still makes 90 % of guys at the gym look malnourished?

Ryan, just tried this and I'm surprised I have enough strength left in my arms to hold my phone. Amazing pump and I will be putting this in my regular routines. Keep the quality videos coming. Off now to die.

As I don't have any access to a cable machine, can I use resistance bands instead?
30 reps top, 30 reps bottom and 30 reps full; my triceps might check in to a retirement home first thing next morning.

Quick tip for future videos. When showing bench+cable exercise keep in mind some of us who don't have empty gyms or 2 or more cables. We are limited to those exercise combos. Just sayin'.
