Instagram is like high school. except there's concrete evidence who's the most popular, aka how many LadyNobles: I know this is an older video, but I still wanted to share my thoughts. :)
I'm very glad to know that I'm close to the average american woman in terms of size and body shape. :) I'm a little larger, but not by much! Before 2016, I was 150 lbs, a size 18 in jeans, and a size XL in tshirts (because boobs and shoulders. Now, I'm currently 261 lbs (and pregnant, a size 24 in jeans, and a size 2X in tshirts when I'm lucky. I'm also 26 years old. I wish I could go back to the body I used to have, because I felt so much better and happier in it, but I also know that my life has changed a LOT since those days. I'm older, I'm halfway through my first pregnancy, I live in a colder climate, my gallbladder had to be removed, and I've been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and PTSD and I'm on medication for them. I probably could get close if I try hard, in all honesty. And I don't really have anything holding me back, except myself. I'm just not sure where to begin and how to keep myself going on that path. But for the sake of my son, my husband, and my own health. I want to try. Tonight, I've been looking into pregnancy safe exercise that I can do at home this winter, and planning to start walking outside as much as I can before it gets too cold!

Very interesting and kinda sad video: P
Shocking to see only 3% asian women on the top of the list: O I wonder what that's about!
The thing about only seeing women that don't represent you on cover pages is something that a lot of people, regardless of ethnicity feel! Who has time to look like those models when you have a completely different job and you also dont really get to pick the shape of your face or body: P
I'm caucasian so I have no idea what it feels like for you, but as a ginger I'm always surprised that I barely see people like me on coverpages and in series (especially since series mostly cast super weird, ginger-roles are barely ever actually played by people with naturally red hair) It bothers me extra on clothing websites, where I never get to see how clothing would go with my hair color (or even curly hair for that matter)I know it's not the same at all, just an observation on how only certain bodytypes and hair/eye/skin colors make it in the big magazines, while most people actually don't feel represented at all.

When looking at these statistics it's important to view them representatively. For example, since the majority of people in the USA have brown eyes, it makes sense that most fitness influencers also have brown eyes. The percentages will not be the same since we haven't chosen our sample randomly from the population, however they should follow them if we assumed everyone has an equal chance of becoming a fitness influencer. Obviously, they don't and to find out why we should look at the statistics that surprise us and then we can deduce the beauty standards. For example, we can deduce that overweight individuals do not fit the fitness beauty standards since the majority of people are overweight in the US but 0% within the fitness community. Additionally, around 60% of the US is white but 79% of fitness influencers are white so we might deduce that race also plays a factor.
So the raw data isn't necessarily interesting until you compare it to the overall population.

I like how you mention stats with no judgement. It's up to us, the audience, to take what we want from it.
For me, I'm glad to see fitness influencers who actually ARE fit. Mostly, these people DO look somewhat toned.
Unfortunately obesity is prevalent. And so are eating disorders (restrictive. It's hard to decide who to follow and on your side, how to say things without triggering or offending someone.
The bottom line is:
- toned muscles (this does not mean they have to stick out like a bodybuilder)
- good exercise endurance
- energy throughout the day
- cardiac health, including DOING CARDIO! I hate when people think it's cool to hate cardio. The heart is a muscle. It's important. Keep it fit.
- a generally nutritious diet with enough calories to allow for adequate energy, growth, mental and physical satiation
Why is it so hard?

I honestly don't follow them. I often Think that they look like Hoes to me. You present your Body and your Butt, okay, but why Not how you actually got there and what your Nutritions are? And also, i Think the most of them got plastic Surgery. I don't want anything to do with that, i ALSO Think that the always Photoshop them here and there to make them look perfect. But honestly, no one is perfect at all. Even if you have the perfect body/look for your self, there will still be People out there Who don't like it. And that is just normal.

To your own fan analysis, you are one of the only Asian fitness influencers, which means that tons and tons of woman who don't see themselves being represented in the top 100 fitness influencers, which you said yourself are pretty much caucasian dominated, go to you or other influencers from non white backgrounds. We look for ourselves in media because we want to be represented in a good light and you do that for all us Asian woman who don't see fit woman of our ethnicity prominent in the media

I think it makes a lot of sense to assume that people will follow fitness influences who look like themselves. Its a lot easier to do exercises when you don't have some way skinner or way more muscular person doing them in front of you. If you look like the person doing the workouts/fitness inspiration, youre more likely to feel like you can do the workout, too. Just my two sense. I'm a bit heavier and have bigger boobs than your average follower but your content is amazing and fun!

Omg I had no idea popsters would get MAD over the fact you celebrated that you are representing a minority on the cover of Health magazine, especially since we never see Asian Americans on there! We don't need that negativity in the community, we love you Cassey! And also, don't get hung up on what if I were white? like you had said at the end of the video. We can't change our race, or how people look at us, but we can continue to be positive lights with the gifts God gave us
reply

Interesting video. I like Cassey's personality and I do not care that she is Asian. I am white and what. I even watched some Asian ladies workouts in their native language so I did not understand anything.
I think that only 3 % of fitness influencers are Asian because of the usual body type of Asians - they are smaller, thinner and do not have so big breasts and bottom as it is trendy now.

You're awesome, lady! Thanks for sharing what you found and relating it to your own experience. There are so many things on that list that I don't fit. I'm taller, 145lbs, flatter butt, smaller lips, bigger nose, square shape face. To try to be like what I see on social media would be ridiculous and completely impossible! This is a wake up call! I really have to start embracing me!
