I feel this video so much. In 2019 I was desperate to lose weight so I started eating around 300-500kcals a day and doing HIIT everyday. I lost a lot of weight and I became fairly fit but I noticed I got tired really easily, I lost my period for a few months, my hair started to thin and my arm hair started to grow longer. I thought I was healthy because I was able to join runs, I felt so light which made exercising easy & I was happier because Ive never had size S clothes until then. But I came across a video like this talking about losing your period and its side effects, and I decided to eat more because I was also tired to beating myself up for not losing enough weight this week or eating too much. Gradually I increased my daily calorie intake to 700kcal because thats all I could eat without feeling too full or guilty, slowly it rose to 900 then to 1000. Then in 2020 because of quarantine, I got lazy and started stuffing myself too much. I noticed I was gaining weight so I started exercising everyday and going back to my old unhealthy eating habits but I was plateaued, unhappy and my period was getting darker so then I just gave up. Im trying to go back to losing weight but in a healthier way this time, Im watching this to remind myself not to destroy my body to achieve what only looks healthy but really isnt.

Next time we get our periods, let's be grateful! Haha ok Cassey. I'll keep that in mind.
I had irregular periods back in university. I wasn't aiming for weight loss but wanted to eat healthy by cutting carbs, eating lots of salad. I think my period came 3 times within a year and a half. My poor mother was so worried. I started incorporating more protein and complex carbs into my diet, drank lots of delicious Asian mom soup, and also saw my gynecologist and took some medicine to help. My period came back to a normal cycle within a 1. 5 years of making those changes. I wasn't even working out much.
Speaking about bone loss, I was part of a study that looked at basal temperature, menstrual cycle, diet and bone loss, so I had the privilege to get an MRI scan to check out my bone density. Over the course of 2 years when my period was messed up and it stopped, my bone density dropped 5%. I was 22! NOT THE TIME MY BONE MASS SHOULD BE DROPPING! Women reach peak bone pass at 25 years old, and everything goes downhill from there! Negligence of my health put me at risk for osteopenia! NOT GOOD! Anyway it's been 10 years, health, weight, diet, attitude towards food and body are thankfully all good. But oh was it a roller coaster of a journey.

This is soooooo important! I lost my period my second year of college. Thought it was just stress. I tried to sleep more, eat better, take hot baths, all the things you're supposed to do to relieve stress. Went to several docs, but kept getting recommendations like birth control will make you have periods again and eat low carb, that helps all my patients! In my senior year of college I was finally diagnosed with a pituitary TUMOR. Yeah, like a tumor literally IN MY HEAD (not technically on my brain, but still. It had been up there producing ridiculous amounts of a hormone called Prolactin, which suppresses ovulation, and therefore my periods. My doc has warned me to look out for vision changes, among other things. If I had let my amenorrhea go unchecked, my hormones would be severely out of whack, and I could have had permanent damage to my vision. I know mine isn't a typical case, but please please please, if you're not having periods, go to a doctor. And if they're not helpful, go to another doctor, and another, and another, until you find one who is going to help you and not just put you on birth control for no reason. Your health is so, so worth it!

16 years old here. last time i had my period was mid march, though it was after a two month pause. I had lost some weight, and have been about 2 kilos under my weight at the time of getting my period since then. For the past month and a half i have really increased my portions (even doubled, i feel satisfied after my meals and objectively have no nutrition-based setbacks. However, instead of gaining weight, it has become stagnant, about a kilo below my current gain goal. I don't know if i should keep eating this amount and wait for it to slowly build up, or if forcing more food is the way to go. Im confused to say the least, but I'll try to bulk up whatever im eating a bit more (i only eat three times a day because of my busy schedgule, so i already try to make those meals pretty big. i just dont want this to get too far, because i feel like diet and lifestyle wise i have finally figured out what works for me and makes me happy and satiated, but obviously my body thinks otherwise. im currently working on visiting a nutritionist (kind of tricky getting an appointment due to the situation, but i hope it all works out

I lost my period this summer in June. I became bulimic in July and then 2 and a half months later, my mother noticed I was purging she told me to get my blood test done. At that time i lost about almost 10 kg and my weight was 75 kg (my height is 172 cm. My blood test was good but when they checked my heart doctors were in complete shock. My heart rate was 35 per minute (my lowest was 28 per minute) and was sent to hospital. I knew i couldnt purge in hospital and couldnt track my food so I just stopped eating when I was in hospital for almost 3 weeks. In hospital I lost another 5 kg and got diagnozed with anorexia nervosa. Its January now and I still havent gotten my period. I do homeworkouts 5 days a week (1 hour long) which I dont think is too intense and I eat about 1500-1700 calories. Will I get my period soon and am I doing something wrong? I really started to notice that I get bruises on my body really quicky when I touch something hard so Im scared if my bones got that much weak

In response to all the comments on here talking about how losing your period doesn't necessarily mean you're too skinny--yes. Of course things like PCOS and some forms of birth control (or even just a less regular cycle by nature) will cause loss of period. But I think the point here is that if something is NOT NORMAL for you (going from regular period to no period) then you should know why or get it checked out so you know why. Also as someone who didn't even have a period until I was almost a legal adult due to childhood and teenage anorexia (and has suffered the occasional relapse, I'll say that it could be obvious to know when your body has stopped menstruating and/or ovulating due to you being too skinny, underfeeding, or overexercising--rather than due to another health issue. You know when you're overdoing it. (Or at least I always knew I was overdoing it. It's hard to overexercise and starve without knowing that it's happening.

Today I got my period for the first time after a year of not having it, because of an ED and surgery (refers to female health)
What I did was firstly increasing fats (up to 80-90 grams per day, secondly when I realized that my health comes back, I decreased them to 60-65 grams per day, that is to a normal amount
Note, that I didn't quit exercising. But tbh my workouts aren't that hard, maybe 30-40 min per day including stretching.
Also, I incorporated visualization into my life. I'm sure affirmations would work too.
What is the most important thing - I got rid of my ED, started loving myself, and became more confident. I don't know if that would happen if I didn't decide to work on my period loss. So, I'm actually somewhat grateful that I lost it haha. It took me half a year, but your trip may be shorter!

I had lost my period for 4 months after a long stint of over eating and multiple stresses related to the pandemic, including a shut down of my work location and a family member discovered they needed to battle stage 4 cancer, self care is so important on many levels. I find the Blogilates post of monthly workouts help to keep focused on the big picture and each time I finish the day of workouts I treat myself to things including bubble baths and if I do a full week of workouts I will have a sweet I had been craving with moderation. She is so right that it is so important to be mindful of your body and the stressors that affect it and these videos really help me stay on top of balancing that. Even the posts with healthy recipes help they creepily pop up whenever I have under eaten lol!

I guess if you're trying to get pregnant it could prove problematic, but mine's been on/off for years and my GP (who's also an OBGYN, hospital administrator) said it's not a big deal; women don't get a period until puberty and they lose it again during/post-menopause and they survive. So long as other underlying conditions are ruled out, you could be giving yourself grief worrying needlessly. Not trying to invalidate any experiences posted here or Cassey's. Given my concern, my dr. put me on the pill and it regulated itself. I've taken breaks from the pill over the years and it seems as strong as ever. It seemed like fearmongering from friends/being anal-retentive/stressed about it perpetuated some of the problem. There's hope Ladies!

I lost my period for a year and a half. Been irregular since then. I was TINY and kept over exercising and under eating. I saw all kinds of doctors no one could figure out why I lost my period because I kept denying that I was skinner than I used to be. Finally I started eating again and calmed down on working out. My period is coming back and I am even drinking this thing called FEM21 which is a hormone balancing powder which you mix with water and is seriously helping me and also helping my sister with her acne. Slowly getting back to normal and am always grateful for my period. I hope that I didn't cause permanent damage. I am 21 years old now so hopefully it is not too late. Thank you for your video, really helped.
