I got a similar interrogation at security before. It was the first time I'd ever seen a security dog used in a line, and it was set up so that people walked individually past it. I had recently bought a vintage TWA carry-on bag from someone, and it smelled a bit like mothballs. So of course the dog locked onto me and I got pulled aside.
I was taking a day trip to Baltimore so I could get on the 737 MAX there and back for a college course presentation. Of course that was a little bit difficult to explain, especially since my flights had since been swapped over to the 737-700. But once they'd verified my information and gone through my bag they let me through.

Another great video from Noel! If time is, indeed, money, you lose! along with the time concerns, I would really worry about my comfort. Whether I am traveling for work or vacation, I want to feel good on the other side I would certainly have time in certain instances to take that long to travel, but I could not afford to be so exhausted on the other end. I also love my toptier OneWorld status too much to not take advantage of the perks. I am much better at being a cellist than a travel blogger! Noel, you are courageous! you do the flying so we dont have to!

10 pounds to fly to Barcelona? how do they make any money? I would be in Spain every weekend if I lived by Stansted. I was scared of the Chinese immigration people AND the Italians in Rome, they both treated me like I was mentally handicapped (after a long flight, I might have been) and in both occasions they made comments to their coworkers and everyone laughed while staring at me. I was actually scared in China but I was mad like you were when I was at Fiumicino and had to walk it off on my way to the Leonardo express train.

Wow. 2 years later, do these errors still occur? Next time you are flying a sketchy route with a possible airport overnite get yourself a hikers air mattress to take with you, light weight, compact and about 2. 5 inches thick. Keep you off the cold floor and save your back and hips lol! I personally use only the 6. 5 inch camping but for traveling, I would take anything other than the chairs and for an opportunity to stretch out. Loved the video!

Frequent traveler here, and there are some good and bad officers in all countries. That being said, your highly positive experience out here in the US is probably due to your complexion. If you were a wee bit more tan, your experience probably would've been different. Montreal, on the other hand, is highly diverse (even more than NYC, so a rude person is rude to every human.

Your experience is just the opposite of mine. I'm Canadian, and on a trip to visit a friend in Manchester, we had to fill out cards on the plane with the names and addresses of people we were visiting. There were two guys checking people in, and one of them made fun of me for the reason I knew the person I was visiting. I felt embarrassed for me, but more for him.

Noel thought the only cock on this trip was the captain of the Swiss flight. Little did he know there'd be a few more cocks in Montreal at immigration LOL. Amazing value for money, i wish you told us how many pence per mile this trip cost you! Less than 1 is my guess! Cheers from Vancouver, Montreal has the worst airport staff in the country!

YUL is the worst Canadian airport, YYZ is next in line. But i used to work out of YYZ for 5 years so i know a few good CBSAgents but still when i had my Airline Clearance I was sent to secondary screening on a leisure trip to NYC and once i got to the agent in secondary he was literally like why are you here? I went through Boston a few years ago.
Went through security for a connection, my daughter put a large cream cake on the belt to get scanned.
Security weren't happy with the scan so we had to put it through again.
It was late and we were tired and due to the kerfuffle, the damn cake got left behind!

I spotted what I think was an error flight a few months ago - I mean Melbourne to Singapore to Zurich in FIRST CLASS and then Zurich to London in business for like $450? Its just too good to be true. About half the price of the cheapest economy ticket between Melbourne and London too, seems like a no-brainer!

We were once awaiting for our rail connection to the Franz Joseph Strauss International Airport for around 4 hours. The newsstand and food establishment and the shop were all closed. What's wrong with many cities administrations that everything just about are closed at night.

Ive only flown into Montreal (from the UK) once as I usually fly into Toronto. I had a very good experience with all of the airport staff in Montreal, better than I usually get at Toronto, so I guess its all down to who you get and what kind of day theyre having.

As to the questions you were asked on the flight to Boston. I worked at an airport for departing US flights, and the requirement for airlines to fly there was to have security personnel basically interrogate passengers flying to the US. they have to do it

From my experience, Montreal and Quebec are largely French speaking and the people are definitely ruder and more difficult there.
In the rest of Canada, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver for example, found no problems at all. ( From Australia )

Canadian immigration are THE WORST. I thought they would be nicer to UK citizens but I guess not. I had a horrible experience flying into YVR from SEA after which I have never set foot in Canada again (my choice not theirs)

I have flown to Canada many times since the early 1970's and have always encountered really difficult Immigration officials. This runs against what the real Canada is all about.

That has also been my observation that the Canadian immigration officials are far worse than the US ones. It is even worse when you drive across Buffalo/Niagara.
