I'm from Europe and I drove a Camry rental for 4000 miles on a trip last year. I don't see the appeal. The interior creaks and rattles like hell. The transmission sometimes lugs the engine at 1100 RPM, other times it revs it to 5000 for absolutely no reason. The infotainment is terrible. And while it's practical (in terms of cargo room) for a sedan, just get a smaller wagon and be done with it. Also I had A LOT of luggage in the back and everyone flashed their high beams at me because I was blinding them. No height adjustment knob for the factory LED headlights. Absolute joke.

It offers worse MPG than the RAV-4? Then why buy this over a RAV-4? Unless you REALLY want a sedan. which is, of course, a legitimate reason but looking at the SUV craze, I'm not sure many people think that way. The RAV-4 is more practical (more cargo room, offers slightly better offroad performance with higher ground clearance and is easier to park (higher seating position and more compact except height. The Camry may have slightly better driving dynamics but it's by no means a sports sedan.

2: 59 - And this is why you don't let marketing make market predictions based on current trend data when introducing new trims, the V6 model is the version that could benefit the most from having the AWD system because that amount of Power/Torque frequently overwhelm FWD only cars. I suspect we would see most Camry V6 models leaving the lot with AWD selected had they offered that model.

I call BS on that take rate for a V6-AWD Camry. Yes, statistically less people buy the 6 cylinder but a V6-AWD Camry would steal even more sales from the Avalon and, what now should be obvious, the eventual AWD Lexus ES350. Making this version the 4 cylinder, is like Porsche refusing to put more power in the Cayman because it would make the 911 almost obsolete, except for the name.

I live in a hilly area and see plenty of stuck and abandoned AWD vehicles when we get a rush hour snow storm. Most AWD systems actually do not have the ability to put enough torque to the rear wheels to push the vehicle up hill if the front wheels are slipping. A Subaru with a manual transmission is the exception. It has a true 50/50 power split all the time.

Alex, The Camry will be the Number 1 AWD sedan within a year. While the mpg numbers are disappointing, let's wait for real world testing as the Camry 4 beats its official figures. An AWD Camry Hybrid certainly sounds like the next logical step for TMC to take. While Toyota is mixing and matching their TNGA powertrains, how about a #RAV4V6?

The Subaru Legacy has a 18. 5-gal fuel tank and better gas mileage (+2. Camry will have probably 14. 5-gal (on base model) or maybe the 16-gal tank if lucky. That's a 150-mile range difference or 16 more trips at the gas station per year under my current driving habits. Yeah you're right can't compare to the Subaru.

I don't think i will ever understand the obsession with AWD. Unless you are a rally driver, what does it even do? If you are worried about being stuck in snow or mud, shouldn't you be buying 4WD? every other situation the trade offs are just too much. I think AWD is just a marketing tool. Convince me I'm wrong.

Its a rational decision for them to NOT add AWD 3. 5V6 simply to save money. Admit it, people commenting here are NOT going to be the real buyers lol. A math question: assuming adding same 1500 for either AWD or hybrid, how many miles can you get back a set of X-ice Xi3 with hybrid over awd from that 20 mpg gap?
