Buick Encore: Front Brake Job Matthew: This video is not only for Buick.
Gm used the same caliper design for many years. If you look at brake components and bearings for the impala malibu regal or lacross they are the same. I have 4 2013-2015 Malibu s. They are simple to work on and once I do a repair on one I know how to do it on the others with ease. And the bolt trick with the wheel bearing works better than a slide hammer! Thanks Eric o! If you can do it I can do it!

Tip: When pumping up the brake pedal to extend the pistons back to working position, do NOT push it all the way to the floor. Only do small rapid pumps until the pedal gets firm. If you push the pedal to the floor, you push the piston in the master cylinder past its normal working stroke and the rubber seals get pushed past a sharp edge shoulder and into rough, yucky bore surface area. That can damage the seal enough to ruin the master, and then you're on the hook for replacing it. Not good. Small pumps keep the master piston in its normal working stroke where the walls are clean and smooth. No damage.

I love brake job videos! I just put brake rotor/pads on my 2010 Ford Escape with the BIG two-five! Used the Power Stop, not a sponsor for my wife as she burns more brakes than most! It was easier than getting a meteorite from Arizona and forge a rotor. Without your older video on brake rotor/pads on the Escape, I may have gotten confused! Burnished them in to factory specs. Now, when she stops one doesn't lose his teefers due to shake!

Actually, I just had new tires on my Mazda 3. Good quality tyres but I've had the car back to be balanced 3 times. Reason being that the car vibrates at 70 mph, since the tyres were done. The pads and disks need to be changed as they're quite worn. Would that be the reason why the vibration has appeared do you think? Driving my nuts but it's strange how it's only happened since the new tyres.

That's only for use by Factory Trained Mechanics when new! It's a 1-time use part. It's not needed and your car will weigh less when it's omitted, and thus have more horsepower and MPG. But if you insist on re-installing it, dose it w/ the strongest super glue your local Walmart sells (once you verify your age. It's never coming off in 1 piece again.

I love that you play to the 'torque nazis' on your 'content', Eric. What you do behind 'prying eyes' would make their blood curdle but makes perfect sense to us 'old timers' who've tightened a nut or bolt or two over a period of years. And - you have to get some use out of that chrome-plated, solid gold Snap-On torque wrench, right?

That was so much easier than the brakes on my wife's Subaru a couple weeks ago. I flush the brake fluid every brake job. Ask me what happens when the scan tool asks you to pump the brakes to reenable the electric parking brakes and you have one of the front calipers off. I did this on the ground on a slope without a lift.

Eric is simply the best, but I'm done with watching brake jobs videos unless there's something wacky. I will continue to watch the diagnostic and major component replacement videos, just not brakes. Again Eris O. is the best and I feel as if he's someone I know really well and feel a bit bad for saying this.

Also I have recently replaced my brake pads and rotors got them from AutoZone and they still squeak. Could you tell me what could possibly be wrong when I took my car to my mechanic he says the only way to get rid of the squeal is have your brake pads and rotors replaced from a dealership.

You are the best! my engine light on my 2009 VW 2. 5 Jetta. I hooked up a scanner and it indicates that my H02S heater control circuit bank 1 sensor 1 is the problem. But I m not sure how to fine it on my engine. I wonder if there is a diagram in my owners manual.

Hope you're not working on a Sunday. Your family needs you at home, shoes off, hands clean, watching golf or playing soccer with the kids barbecuing at home. These greasy messes will still be there tomorrow but some day, those kids won't. It's Sunday, Eric, Go Home!

. I'm assuming they are the people who Torque their spindle nuts to spec then back off half a turn still. .man sounds like some commenters just like to complain. using Cleany Uppy Tools, Pushy Backy tools, hugh Jackmans, now holding bolts.

I always put those mounting screws back in or replace ( usually. It is for assembly of the rotor and well, assembling rotor. You have a great sense of humor. Thank You. I haven't heard the Chevy Thunder guy go by in a while. Hope he's OK.
reply

I can't believe you put that back in. I'm going to stuff your face in a garbage can.
But seriously, from one rust belt mechanic to another. I hate you just a little bit for ensuring I'm going to have to drill those out one day.

When My mechanic changes brake rotors he doesn't spray them anymore with brake cleaner he says when you drive down a hill and drive back up using the brakes your brake pads will remove the film off the rotors is that true?

I like that you know and understand and realize how every component of a brake system works and do your utmost to make sure that it functions as it should. The most thorough auto technician I've seen. Ever! Thank you sir!

Why did you put that pos screw back in there? What a hack mechanic if you did that to my vehicle i wouldn't pay you. . Ok you asked and i delivered. Lmao. My truck isn't set up for one of those anyway.
reply

We always put anti-seize on the rotor retainer screws at the shop if the customer wanted them left in. saved a possible issue later on when needing to remove the screw or in some cases 2 screws in the future.

You know idk how many brake jobs I've done but on my last one managed to forget to pump the brakes up. That was a bit of a oh poop moment backing out of the driveway with cars coming down the street.
