Buick Encore: Rear Brake Job - Pads & Rotors Steven: Used to work at a dealership back in the 70s. On good days a mechanic would get into a place that was full of let's say, passion for the job! And talking back and forth to the mech in the next bay. It would sometimes sound like a romance novel. Well at some point it would spread all the way to the seventh bay. And then the whole shop would be going on about how deep sockets and long drives were used! That is what keeps you going back to work day in day out. If you listen and don't watch it can be a whole different video. Thanks Eric O. bringin' back to the days.

11: 01 Hello Eric; Milwaukee makes an excellent light tower that you don t even need to have one of their batteries to make it work. You can just actually plug in an extension cord and it gives you three different levels of light brightness and I have one for my plumbing business and for my auto repairs and what not and it is an excellent investment! You can go to some places that sell things not directly from Milwaukee that you can get a good deal and they re about 160 if you get a good deal on one but it s well worth it you will be so happy with the lighting you ll say to yourself why didn t I get this years ago? From one fellow certified master repair tech to another, look into it, you ll be happy you did!

The engineers who design those brake hoses, and their connections, specify the strongest most robust materials they can find. Those hoses are flexed with every bump in the road. Say 1, 000 times a mile. Or 50, 000, 000 times before the car is ready for a complete brake job. How can dangling them do any harm whatsoever? It is crazy to think so. Indeed DOT regulations require those hoses to withstand 4, 000 psi for two minutes without rupture. They will not be hurt by anything Eric O does. Please be quiet and keep your hands off the keyboard.

I love the way Eric O says it has the big. engine. I laugh every time because they are never ever larger than 3. 5 liters. In my youth I spent 6 months making sure that engine was properly dropped into the frame during final assembly at the Oldsmobile factory in Lansing. The big Rocket Engine was a 7. 5 liter V8. Yes my children that is NOT a typo, it was 7. 5 liters (455 cu in. It was rated at 370 hp at 5, 200 RPM and 500-lb. ft. of torque at 3, 600 RPM. In the Toronado it delivered 7. 5 miles to the gallon. Ah those were the days.

So Eric. what's your thoughts on the coated rotors as opposed to those sprayed down in cosmoline? I prefer the coated as the hubs rust a lot less as opposed to cosmoline burning off and the hub area getting really bad pit rust. When i first saw the silvery coatings i thought it was something that had to be whizzed wheeled off but soon learned it was install and drive! Nice!

Those damned rattle reducing rubber donger on the pins always expand over time no matter what kind of brake lube I use. I just remove them now, haven't noticed any difference except the calipers aren't as sticky and don't have uneven pad wear anymore. I feel like they're a bandaid solution from engineers to get better NVH scores. So unnecessary.

As a professional welder, mechanic and engineer, what you're doing wrong on all your TicTok videos is your air hose management. You aren't coiling them correctly and you must pour at least 3 gallons of 85w90 gear oil into the air stream every 678 minutes for optimal effectiveness. I'm sure you'll get there soon. You seem pretty smart.

I have a question for you and for rainman ray. I lent a bunch of tools to a mechanic friend of mine. And his shop burned down. He said he would pay me back for them from the insurance money. But he never did pay me back. He was an old Army friend of mine but now he doesn't even talk to me. What would you do in this situation?

I ve been watching your videos for years and am a big fan, love the dad jokes. That said, I ve watched you smear stuff around, then say wipe your finger off. I have been waiting with bated breath for you to show your hand with the missing finger, then say not wipe off your finger, wipe the smoo off of your finger!

Evidently scheduled maintenance or maintenance period is not a priority with this owner. Onky when it breaks or gets too loud does anything get done? That's 1 way to take care of a vehicle
What the heck, that's a good customer that treats their car that way
Another car made safer for the roads by Mr. O!

'My love glove'. Eric O always with the inueldo on any job. Then. Wait for it. After applying an ample amount of Super Lube using his Love Glove, he fumbles the part. Almost spit out my coffee on that one. So far, your one of few, that can make a simple brake job entertaining. Ya done good son.

I done did so many of'm l have no need to watch but to criticize. Q: lf said brake hose can withstand 1, 000 psi hydraulic, how can it break from 2Lbs of it's own weight hanging on it? If hanging by it can breake it, it would NEVER hold 1, 000 psi hydraulic! OK? ben/ michigan

Why even bother removing the slide bolts from the brake calipers as it pulls apart after the Caliper is removed by the two main bolts. Totally unnecessary work and a waste of time in my opinion. Only remove them if they are actually going to be replaced with new units.

What kills me after all these years the people actually changing there own breaks for the last 30 year knock em out in 25 minutes and were down the road I feel bad youbahve to go through all the drama of hanging calipers kills me thanks for the entertainment my guy.

When you work in a shop environment you do what you have to. Get it done to fix the problem is what you are trying to achieve. You are way more thorough than other mechanics I've seen. I worked at a shop that was all about are you done yet I have another one.

Yeah, brake jobs are great and all, but I miss the edge-of-the-seat suspense of an intermittent bad ground, the head-scratching Whatdoneit of a diagnostic differential, and the heart-stopping thrill of ugga-duggahing the stuffing out of a red-hot seized bolt.
reply

Eric, what is the advantage of using the Super Lube on the pins? and Silaramic on everything else? Silaramic says All brake systems and brake components, including calipers, bushings, holes, pins, inserts, anchors, bolts, calipers and boots

I've had better luck putting those rubber pin isolator things onto the pin while it's clean and dry, then lubing over top of everything. It keeps the rubber isolator from sliding up onto the pin and jamming up everything.

Why do You make working on gm vehicles so easy, just about every repair I seen You do was almost identical to mine and not one has been as easy for Me. You are simply the best mechanic I have ever seen on daily drivers.

I just can t believe someone would bend a line of any kind to access a bolt. My goodness that could cause the apocalypse to happen or zombie attack. Never did that o e time in my life of working on equipment. Oh the shame.
