The Truth About Mitsubishi Cars Brad Wake: Well, Mitsubishi cars. My friend has always had Mitsubishi. I always used to give her a gentle ribbing about her choice. Ive always bought Mazda or Honda. Anyway, she has been unable to drive for the past couple of years, and Ive been driving this 2000 Magna. (sold in USA as Diamante) Assembled in Australia, based on a Japanese design. Currently just about to turn over 200k kilometres or about 125k miles. After Ive been driving it for a couple of years, Ive grown to love it. The 3. 5L V6 has power to burn, I hate the indirect nature of the steering and the suspension feels like its made of marshmallows. Putting at least 36psi in the tyres helps the suspension a lot. Anyway, after 18 years of ownership, we have agreed that well keep the car until it starts to fall apart. So far, there has been no indication that this is about to happen. Its kept regularly maintained, and there is no rust. Has been an honest and reliable car.

I have owned a few Dodge badged Mitsubishis from the 70s and 80s, great vehicles. I am very familiar with the grenade engine Scotty is talking about, I worked at an engine machine shop in the early 90s. 2. 6L 4 cylinder. total garbage. The other Mitsu engines were better (sorry Scotty) than even the Toyotas of the time. (except the 20/22r) Notably I owned a 91 Montero with more than 300, 000 miles on the original drive train when the harmonic balancer fell off, and I own a 15 Mirage that I bought for 13k in 2016 (It is loaded with options) that has 67000 miles on it now. It has the CVT (It is a 2 speed automatic with a CVT function, straight from a minivan and repurposed into the Mirage) The lowest mileage the car has ever gotten is 32MPG and the best is in the low 60s. (Usually around 38-45MPG) I would buy it again. I have owned Toyotas and loved them, The Mirage is the best car per dollar I have ever owned. No breakdowns.

My 91 Dodge Colt was a Mitsubishi Mirage with a Dodge cloak. I had one million miles on it when it was stolen at the border of Arizona and Mexico by Amish punks. Its probably still running -- like those horse-and-buggy throwbacks. Truthfully, I had almost 235, 000 on the awesome Colt when I drunkenly ripped the passenger-side axle out of the transmission -- I broke the case, actually -- when I drove too far to the right at night on a ridiculously steep rural railroad crossing. Long story. Great car. Sad day. I know exactly where it turned over 100, 000 and 200, 000. The drivers seat was the only thing worn out, and there was a little rust. It would still be here today were it not for my mistake. : / Ran great, even when I didnt care as much about cars and went about 19, 000 miles without changing the oil. Poor car. Im glad Im a different me now. Ha

boy. youre wrong on this one scotty, I used to have a mitsubishi diamante, NEVER have any problems, nothing, not a single darn thing. just regular stuff maintenance like changing oil and changing brake pads where you have to go to the shop to scuff the rotor, all cars are doing it, its mandatory for all cars, i had this car for some time, change the battery several times, the battery is the only thing that is dissapointing, but its not made by mitsubishi, so i have zero complaint on this brand. but again diamante was considered as the top of the line flagship mitsubishi at that time, so im pretty sure the car is loaded with the best quality stuff. maybe the lower end mitsubishis has problems, but from some friends who has them eclipse, 3000gt, lancer, nothing serious has happened

Love my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer, very nice and sporty. Previous owner added red leather door panels and red accents really sharp. Bought it in 2014 with only 80, 000 miles on it. It gets me in and out where I need to go fast. These cars are not your typical sedans. The only thing I have had to replace was all 4 brakes and tires at the same time. What the hell, Mama wanted a new set of shoes. Last week I thought of trading in my car for a new one just bc the paint on my car is getting dull from this Texas sun. Well I was shocked when the salesman told me Mitsubishi was no longer making Lancer They were only making those SUV and CUV now. WTH? I have one child and I dont look like a soccer mom Looks like my Lancer is going in for a makeover BTW kicks booty at 103. 000miles

Hello, Mr. Kilmer Im going to give you a nasty headache: I run an European automobile named Logan, it has a 1, 2 L engine and it has ALOT of problems, but I will just give you one To start that car is a challenge. EVERY DAY You must use the acceleration for about 5-10 min to warm the engine and, in this time, the car is shacking and do all the earthquake stuff and. if Im lucky and didnt appear the battery symbol and stopped the engine. hoorah. it will, finally. STARTED What do you think. :) by, the way, Im from Romania, and Im a cab driver

I think people are willing to take a dump on Mitsubishi either because theyre now in bed with Renault and Nissan, or because theyre annoyed that they no longer make cars like the Lancer Evo, instead opting for mainly SUVs with the odd one or two more economical models (like the Mirage; my wife has a 2016 facelift, UK model, and shes very happy with it. SUVs are the flavour of the month/year/decade and Mitsubishi popularised the plug-in hybrid EV.

I slightly disagree buddy. I had an 07 Eclipse, and 2011 Evolution. Almost problem free. For the most part Mitsubishi makes a good product, but the clutch on my Evo went out after 10, 000 miles. But I raced it and launched a lot, dropping the clutch at 4500 rpm, lol. Still liked it. Their 4 cylinder cars are more reliable than the V6s. I see a lot of 10-15 year old Lacers and Galants still going strong.

Have a 6 year old 2013 Outlander Sport ES got bran new cheap. It has a huge, massive, whopping 28, 950 miles on it right now. So by Scottys calculamantions I have another 8 to 10 years before it starts to burn a little oil. Ill take it good purchase Over the lifetime of the 6 years the family gets between 25 and 28mpg mostly city driving, but she is starting to have rattles inside.
