I ve Been Saying This for Years But You Keep Buying These Dodge Rams FOXMOTH: OK - my 2007 Ram 1500 4. 7 2wd has no real issues except maintenance required - 166, 000 miles - and a southern truck no rust - just replaced the radiator, the AC/Heat blower motor (5 min job) - the AC Evaporator fan motor/near radiator - Fuel Evap canister, another 5 min job, replaced the headlamps with new because it was cheaper to replace them than polish the faded original pair ( 99. 00 with bulbs, new rear rotors and pads, - i did all this work with my son and it was easy work. Even replacing or having the dreaded TIPM module is easy and not to bad at 275 rebuilt. I've owned the truck since 128, 000 miles - and was the cheapest best pickup available anywhere - so it is all a balance.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT sport and I have a air intake throttle body spacer stage 2 jet chip computer programmer Gibson exhaust and besides having too much horsepower and having to replace the rear end a few times never really had a problem just went over a hundred and ten thousand miles obviously I've done the alternator which wasn't bad just figured it was old and should change it AC compressor typical tune-up belt hoses change some of the pulleys but one problem I was having a idle problem control where the idol would go up and down sometimes I would lose throttle response I have to shut the truck off restart it I changed the throttle body it was still having the same problems ended up being if you're looking at the throttle body on the left side I believe it's the EGR valve there's a hose that goes behind the throttle body into the intake and that I the 5 gasket dry rotted and are was being sucked in I took off the looks like a u clip put on a new gasket and instantly solved the problem and the only really major problem which should be a manufacturing defect is the rear quarter panels riding out all 2003 and 2004 the rear quarter panels rot that should fall under a manufacturer's defect

Been watching your videos Scotty for about three years now and I bought a 2017 Tundra two years ago because of you. BEST decision I have ever made, love love love my truck!
My dad had a Ram, and cursed it every day. Electronic issues, seat belt issues, A/C issue, on and on and ON! I don t care what people say, when he speaks that Chrysler/ Fiat products are total garbage, trust me he is spot on. First hand experience. If you want a daily fixer upper until it finally breaks and leaves you stranded, buy a Dodge, if you want a truck you are going to love like your woman and will last forever, BUY A TUNDRA! and for the idiots that buy Rams for the so called HEMi. I have the small 4. 7, 2 wheel drive and I smoke them all day so. yeah. Their not that fast either.
God speed Scotty!

I think you were a little hard on the second Dodge. The starter motor went out. That happened a lot in the 60's too. I have personally changed starters on old cars (and a truck) with less mileage. On at least one it was really the bendix solenoid thing which you could buy separate and cheaper, but the whole reman Auto Shack starter was so cheap. 3 bolts instead of two, but the same big and little wire. This truck broke the old fashioned way, not in the new Fiat/Chrysler way. Also, I had something that needed a stick to hold up the hood, but can't remember what it was right now.

Hey Scotty, I'm retired and living in Costa Rica. I love your videos and I appreciate your honesty. I also want to thank you for guarding my house when I'm gone. I AM PAYING YOU FOR THIS! When I leave, I turn on your videos with the volume up and they play all day. It sounds like there's someone home and I feel more secure. Buying a car here? Only Toyota or possibly Honda. No problem with parts or funding good mechanics who can fix them. Keep it up and thanks!

My car is evil my car is cursed! Before I owned it the car was owed by a leasing company, and rented out to a bunch of people! They always kept it up to date with the maintaince but the brake is screaming loud and the water pump might need replacing! I swear that car was used for a murder, because that would be the way to do it! I can't even sell the thing anyone in the industry runs away from it!

Usually when a starter motor is beginning to give up the ghost on you it makes a loud clicking noise for a while and cranks kind of slow. Then again sometimes they just go with no warning at all. It's a coin toss sometimes.
My next door neighbor had a Dodge Ram and had nothing but problems with it. He replaced it with an F-150 and hasn't looked back.

Smacking a permanent magnet starter is not advisable unless you know not to hit it where magnets will receive an impact. But yeah that is a good trick, just make damned sure the engine is not going to start and the vehicle drive over you. (you will have bypassed the safety interlock by trying this procedure)

My Ram is an 06 which, like this 07, is a 3rd generation. Mine has the Cummins. Zero issues & no codes with over 200K miles. The engine is still tight. So what if some frivolous codes. Look at the resale value of Cummins Rams even with high miles. They're not giving them away. There's a reason.
