5 Secrets Only Car Mechanics Know David James: 6: 16. I am starting to believe that a lot of people lie about the maintenance they perform on their cars. I doubt people get their oil changed as frequently as they say they do. From the size of peoples asses these days, I bet they take that money over to McDonalds for a McDouble. Ooh, people also say they dont eat a lot too, but their triple chins dont lie.

Outstanding shipmate. Except the change the trans oil. no no no. My dad told me many years ago. All ways change your engine oil. But not the trans oil. If its still under warinty yes change your trans oil. But if you have an old car with a lot of miles. Do Not change the trans oil. You see the old trans oil has a lot of stuff that got burned off the trans bands. That stuff is what keeps the trans working. You take that old oil out and the trans will go out for sure. My dad was an auto mechanic for all his 72 years of life Scotty. Rite there in Houston Texas.

Scotty, I worked at the biggest manufacturer of windscreen wipers. The black stuff you wipe off the blades is graphite powder they put on the wipers in the factory (it is true, no joking) to stop squeaking noises. After that they go trough a bath with water and a lot of dish soap to remove excess graphite powder. The soap they use is dreft professional or sometimes lavender soap[ you must smell that when you open a new pack of windscreen wipers].

Ebay sells an engine air filter and cabin air filter combo for 15 CAD with free delivery. In USD, that would equal 12 for both filters. If any viewers cant afford 12 USD for 2 filters once per year, well, then you arent living your life properly. 12 falls out of my pocket in a typical month in loonies and toonies (Canadian 1 and 2 coins. Plus, my wife costs me at least 1, 000 per month with her spending.

Hi Scotty, I drive a 1996 Volvo 940 that has a pulsating steering wheel whenever I apply the brakes. Have already changed the suspension bushes and absorbers, skimmed the uneven brake rotors, done the wheel balancing, alignment and camber adjustments. Also, running on new Michelin tyres but yet it pulsate when I brake. Any idea what might be causing this, please? Thank you.

Hey scotty, quick question. I replaced my brakes and rotors about 6 months ago but almost right away my brakes would squeak at a certain point and after driving about 5 min it would go away. Any suggestions for that? I tried blowing the brake dust out and still nothing. Could it be because i didnt use grease or used the original brake pad clips?

People who treat their cars just as a mean of tranportation are not going to check a single thing that Scotty has said in the video, until their negligence leads to serious problems with their cars. Once they spend a fortune on repairs, then they start to think that maybe they should've paid attention to these things.

Scotty, what is your opinion of a used Nissan Xterra? They arent made anymore but I had a 1999 model when they first came out and it laster a long time with no issues. Severely underpowered but no issues with breaking down. Am considering a used (2014 or newer) Xterra as a second vehicle and would love your your opinion. Thanks.

you did not mention the rubber brake lines to brake calipers can collapse also preventing blake fluid from releasing pressure which in turn the calipers stay engaged after you remove your foot from the brake pedal. had this problem several times happen over the years thing it was a bad caliper.

Can someone do a study on the possibility that car designers are mentally challenged or purposely design cars so they can't be fixed. Also why did my 1969 Cadillac get 20 mpg on highway with a 472 4 bbl and plugs and points was a easy 30 min job. Water pump even less, 20 min. Not today
