This short film is absolutely brilliant because it shows the crucial dilemma of our society: We work and work to be able to buy the things we think we have to have because society tells us to. In doing so, we forget the people we love and who love us. At some point, these people are no longer there and we ourselves are old and don't even know what we actually lived for. The only problem is: as soon as someone tells us that this materialistic greed for money and status is wrong and that we should focus our lives and our society more on people again, we chase them away as a left-wing dreamer, socialist or commi.

These things are so predictable in how they're done. As soon as I saw the first line in the description:
_In a dystopian society where retired seniors get executed, a death cleaner finds himself in a dilemma when he encounters a lone resident, who is supposed to be expired and perished. _
I immediately concluded 2 points about the presentation:
1) All those murdered would be shown as males.
2) The killer would be shown as a female.
I didn't bother reading any further nor even watch it. Now. Tell me I'm wrong.

Floyd - An interesting idea -- although I don't see it actually happening. Excellent production values, but much of the acting sucked. I'm not sure whose fault that was, but there are shots where Tim is clearly overacting. The scene at the table should have been re-shot.
I say this as an AFI grad in both writing and direction. I studied acting under Nina Foch and direction under Jan Kadar. Both would have been all over you for that bit.

When the daughter raised the gun to 'recall' her dad, I thought, Why use a gun It is messy, there is collateral damage, and noisy. Just subdue and inject him with poison. That thought took maybe a second. Then there was the poignant smashing of the family photo. Fitting. It was a beautiful reboot of the Twilight Zone episode, 'The Obsolete Man'. Kudos to Floyd & his crew for a well-done short. I look forward to your next film.

and here it is. the ever eventual goal of our progressive goverments/corporations bureaucratic machine. people are fed into this produce/consume/recycle society as nurishment, and so the sytem grows. these stories have traditionally been labeled scifi. Soylet green was my first exposure to this line of storytelling. it always stuck with me. this short version hits especially hard as we come ever closer to its outcome.

Well, it was good except few things. 1) Enforcer costumes is weak. Looks really unconvincing 2) Atrium role is unclear. Its seems some of people believe they will live in Atrium after retirement, but not everyone. Did cleaner know truth id so, why not everyone

Definitely dark, but realistic. The word recall reminds me of when a model of car has a design flaw and it's recalled to be fixed, or a product that's defective. We all need a purpose to live on, and if we don't have it, it runs deep in the psyche.

This made us think of the song 'Cat's in the cradle' by Cat Stevens, later covered by Ugly Kid Joe. Very relevant to how society keeps everyone's nose to the grindstone so we cannot look up and see the world beyond it. Very good short story.

Outright superb and brilliant work. Why dont they make stuff like this anymore. I really miss awesome scifi with great storys. Now everthing is all force fed DEI to the point you want to vomit with storylines a five year old would write.

I didn't get it, sorry. I mean I might have a vague idea of what's going on. but once again, like so many of these short videos, it's like coming in to the middle of a movie. I liked it for what it was but I just didn't get the plot.

Possible a trace of Soylent Green as well. Either way a perfect example of what is going to happen with a skyrocketing birth rate coupled with people living into their 90's and 100's.

The Grim Reapers of the future.
It's disgusting to think about how they feel that the older generation is so expendable, no worth or nothing to offer. .!

This is one of the biggest hypocrisies of capitalism: they keep telling us each of us is unique and the most important, but treating us like expendable mass.

I'm critical about movies/the shorts. This one is one of the best themed I've seen in a couple of years. Hope it gets made to full feature.

Yeah, everyone's time comes. Dying is just as much a part of living.
But I'll be dammed if the government says when I'm too old.
