Are single player fps campaigns dying?
video description
I like a story also. I like to be a character. I like to be part of a dramatic sequence. I like as the music shifts signifying a dramatic climax in the game, gearing up, and saving as you know a boss battle is about to happen.
I guess I just should admit that I prefer 3rd person story-driven action and/or RPG games.
I never preferred first person anything. I remember playing Half-Life 2 when I got a PS3, and not liking the swinging tire iron in front of me. It felt, phony. Ya know what it is? Its the lack of peripheral vision that bugs me, and takes me out of the immersion. In 3rd person, you-re behind....you can see off to the left and right as your character plots forward. Maybe VR in the next gen will have headsets where the screen can cover your entire field of vision? So you can dart your eyes around....left, right, up, or down....without having to shift camera angles with the analog stick.
I-ll give Doom and Wolfenstein a go. Thanks for the suggestions. Looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077!!!! Who isn-t though? I NEVER pre-order anything. After my Witcher 3 experience though, and the fact that I got the game and both DLC-s for $20, I feel the need to throw a little cash towards CDPR.

I love single player, I love stories, and I love characters. Online multiplayer games are just so boring to me, because they're all ultimately the same. Not every game is the same, but each one functions the same. I really enjoyed Overwatch for about two months, which is the longest I've played online multiplayer since Halo Reach came out.
But like I said earlier, to me it's all about stories and characters. I get why Fortnite doesn't really have a campaign mode (still sucks), but Overwatch? It doesn't make any sense. There is already a cast of unique characters who each have backstories! They should release a DLC, and I think that even if it is just each character has one 'origin' sort of level, it would kill. They don't even have to do much writing, just develop the preexisting stories into a level.

After he said, -I enjoyed Black Ops campaign- hmm.. I guess there is no point to watch further, imho. Back to 2007, I noticed that CoD series is more multiplayer oriented game, despite of campaign wasn't bad. When you start noticing that most of your friends play multiplayer of the damned CoD, it is INDICATOR that something wrong. Of course I switched to better story driven games. After playing Thief, Deus Ex, Max Payne series (it's just examples), there is no way I would ever play again poor, miserable CoD, Battlefield.. It is my observation after many years of gaming: if menu of game shows some multiplayer or coop then probably no need to waist time on single player campaign. But exceptions exist...

Doom 2016 is great but I don-t think it was a reboot I think it-s an actual sequel to doom 3,
As for Doom eternal, I like the game but people kept complaining it was too hard (personally I thought it was too hard until I got better over the next few months after the release until the dlc Ancient gods part 1 showed me other wise but then I practiced on that and now I-m even better at the game) and also to me personally about this doom what it lost from the past couple Doom was the Horror aspect nothing in doom was terrifying anymore and that-s what I kind of miss about the old doom-s

The first game I ever pre-ordered was Titanfall 2 because of a single player campaign in my local GameStop. It was phenomenal! I've never played multiplayer on any game ever but I know that it is just as important as single player campaigns. If games had both there wouldn't be problems!!!! It's like buying a movie. Standard or widescreen? Come on and wake up people! They want to make money. If we refuse to buy I would like to think that they would get the picture!! In the meantime play all that you can and forget about the dumb sh-t!!!!

I think it's the greedy system driving the lack of single player. Console manufacturers: - we'll give you a % of prescription sales if you produce more online multiplayer oriented games- Game makers - okay great! We'll make 8 out of 10 of our games this year multiplayer only just for you- Insert evil laugh.

I-m a fan of it all, but in order of single player then multiplayer then pvp, which, is why borderlands and halo were great imo, the single player was the multiplayer as well, and then they had different maps for pvp stuff and that was great too, save for borderlands you could just duel but still

No keep the single player alive, it shows off the games mechanics and and graphics. Plus what if your net goes down for some reason. Had it happen to me before. I was without the net for a year or 2 but still had the single player modes to keep me sane lol.

I am HORRIBLE at multi-player fps's so I pretty much only play single player games. Once again, companies don't care about customer's wants. They only care about the all mighty dollar. Even single player games are overwhelmingly co-op.

Campaigns to me are like watching movies that you are fully immersed in, making them a strong dose of entertainment. Another thing I like about good campaigns are the non repetitive aspects you often find in multiplayer shooters.
