Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Before You Buy Freddie: Idk this game looks alright, but feels pretty superficial in what it borrows from the Souls games. There's narrative and level design-oriented reasons for the combat to be made the way it is for those games, where this just feels like the mechanics are used to add difficulty for the sake of difficulty.
People are allowed to enjoy it of course, I hope they do, but Team Ninja imo are pretty overhyped with their releases. I don't feel like its a coincidence that this game borrrows a ton from specifically Sekiro this time around, with a couple smaller mechanics from Elden Ring combat. The whole appeal of the game, the combat, is just so derivative of things already out.
There are other souls-like games I feel similarly about, but TeamNinja games feel like the most derivative of all the mainstream ones Ive seen without much else going for it (Code Vein, The Surge, Jedi Fallen Order, etc)

This game is a hidden gem. People will see that in time. It s just a lot to understand at first. Let s not forget this is koei tecmos first souls like game. Dynasty Warriors and any other musou style of game are nothing and I mean nothing in any way shape or form like a souls game. Also, if you played tactics, this sort of info dump koei does is nothing new. Plus, if this game does do just a bit well, koei will probably come with multiple sequels since that s been their style.
I will say though, it is very interesting the timing of them moving to the souls like genre when they ve notoriously been a musou game developer. Elden ring wins goty and a year after its release, we get a souls dynasty warriors game from Koei Tecmo. Either they are very very good at reading the market or Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja both decided to follow From Softwares lead, which would be interesting if true.

I feel like the gaming community is being too lenient with Team Ninja. What I see in this game is basically the same problems from their previous titles:
-Lack of originality
-Horrible level design
-Terrible graphics. looks like a 2010 game
-Confusing mechanics
-Unnecessary mechanics
-Repetitive and uninspired level design
I hope I'm wrong but this looks, AGAIN, like a cheap copy of From Software
(I have already played Nioh 1 and 2)

While i am hyped for this game quite a bit and I also played the demo which confirmed that i love the new combat system. I probably wont buy it until its cheaper cause the game look like its from 2015 and the technical issues especially on pc are to much of a downer to me.
And the technical issues seem to be a problem which most games which will only continue if everyone still buys those badly programmed games

Somewhat concerned that it's only a 20-40 hour game. Nioh 2's base game lasted me like at least 100 hours. Idk how many hours that one was described as at the time though. Maybe i just took my time with it?
I enjoyed the demo, but when i heard it was already about 10% of the entire experience i grew a bit hesitant. I'm not exactly in a position to be buying games that'll only last me a week or 2.

Thanks for the video! I've been holding off on buying/pre-ordering until you made a video about it.
I've been patiently awaiting it's release after playing the demo. Good to hear they didnt change too much! I remember the Healing mechanic to be absolutely awful though, long animation for a mediocre amount of hp. By the looks of your video they seem to have improved it.

Part of me wanted to be typical souls style toxic and say it is you, and you do suck. This is coming from someone who also still sucks at dodging in elden ring. But tbh the dodging could very well be a little bad, this isnt exactly the style of game they are known for as far as the koei side of things is

I love love love Nioh and Nioh 2! I also enjoyed Sekeiro but found it too hard. Will defo buy this! Quite excited to play this. Seems like a good mixture of both. I m not too bothered by the lack of event variety. I even like their story telling. Yeah it s a bit. cringy, but I m a sucker for it ahaha.

So is this really a soul-like game? doenst look like it. For me a soul-like game is slow combat, waiting for the right time to attack, it takes a while for you to finnish an enemy and you keep dying and need to learn the traps and things to avoid. Is this game like that? cause doesnt look like it

Also, fun Fact: the parry is actually pretty useless most of the time. Blocking in this game is so ruinously strong that you're almost always better off just blocking, even against bosses, as it will ironically allow you to do damage far more efficiently than parrying while do it more safely too.

Would love to see how these games perform on previous gen there, Jake, instead of only pandering towards the 10% of people who own a series x or ps5. Still can t walk into a store and buy one so I don t understand why you neglect the consoled a majority of people are using still

There's been so many games to think about I'd kind of forgotten about this until a few days ago. I've been playing the demo since and I'm really enjoying it. I will however be waiting for it to drop in price, don't buy many games day one anymore. CDKeys is the way forward!

I love both Nioh games and I absolutely love this as well. One thing worth mentioning is that this game has a very user friendly, fantastic photo mode. I love when a game has a photo mode but I don't always spend a lot of time in there but with this game I did

I like how Tecmo put Zhang Liang right in the beginning of the demo. It's almost as if they're saying to potential customers: Listen, this dude is the Skill Check Boss if you purposely don't use the Dragon Summon if you can't get past him, don't buy the game//

the demo really really disappointed me, wonky and janky combat, animation locks, bad animations, bad graphic and uninspired art direction, a huge letdown, i planned to play this on gamepass but i guess i'll reinstall nioh 2, which is better on any aspect
