I have lots of cases. The destination and job determine which I take. This past weekend I went to Comic Con where I shot video and took photos. I used a Pelican 1550 case & an Ape Case. The Pelican was jam-packed with my AF100 body, flare box (matte box w/no filters, Red Rock shoulder base, rods, LED light, wireless mics, Zacuto viewfinder & batteries. The Ape carried my Nikon D700, lenses for it & the AF100, and more batteries. I think next time I'll just use my Pelican 1650 for all of it.

That's not all Griffin. The artists on Life of Pi was not paid for five whole weeks of work. I've heard they and the supervisor himself, is thinking about suing Ang Lee. What he has done is extremely illegal and not acceptable. Ang Lee should be paying a fine right now if you ask me. VFX artists is being taken advantage over. They always have. Why is it such a tough industry these days? I mean, it's not as hard and tough as SPFX, but it is not just about pushing one button. It is art!

I keep my DSLR and some filters and the battery charger in an old ammo box. It's durable, watertight, and no one will suspect and $800 camera in an old metal box. I have the camera in its stock case for padding, and it's worked pretty well. It even fell out of my car once because it began to lean on the door, but when I picked it up, after its three foot fall, there were no issues or breaks that we've notice in the 6 months since that happened. This is a great, low-budget case!

I use a KATA DR 467i, im sure theres a nicer name, but thats what is written on mine. I personally find them a lot better than low pro, which seem to be market leaders. KATA dont have ( in my honest opinion) the ridiculous side opening for your camera to jump out of. They are made the an extremely high standard, look like a normal rucksack and have great compartments for all gear needed. i strongly recommend them.

Hey Griff, I have a question, I am wanting to go to the SBSW festival. Never been to one. I don't know how it works. So do i just go and buy a ticket? or buy ahead? or is it sold out? also, I am from Oklahoma, so If it isnt sold out, and I go, I am down for carpooling okies down there. of course Gas would be nice in return. PS. I use the LowPro 250 and love it! but with my 100-400 in it its soooo heavy!

I use a Rosewill Shine DSLR Backpack, its big enough that i can fit my camera, lenses, and on long shoots or if I'm traveling light, it can be my suitcase. It can also hold two 15 laptops and it has an external clip and pouch for my tripod. It's waterproof (to a certain extent) but it comes with a rain cover. It is rigid and has impact proof sides, and top, front, and side access ports.

I have a nam era duck bag it's water proof as in i can empty it out and use it as a water pail. So i don't worry about a down pour as long as it is button upped. It can look like a purse but that many olive drab keeps the comments at bay! It's small & can tucks under my arm. To become invisible when i wear my jacket it holds the camera lens on another lens and some filters.

I use a Case Logic SLRC-206. It has a firm flat bottom, has side straps for a tripod, and holds my Sony A35 with kit lens, a 50ft and 6ft 3. 5mm Cable, a simple headphone splitter, both of my shotgun mics, my wireless hand mic, my 15 Macbook Pro, my extra batteries, battery charger, a Neewer CN-126 Led Light, and my Sony Camera Flash for when I shoot photos.

SXSW isn't sold out, but it's expensive (as some of the bigger festivals are. $650 per badge, but that gets you into all 9 days of screenings and panels. They also sell individual tickets for each film, if there are empty seats. But the biggest hurdle is finding a place to stay. All the hotels are sold out, but Russell and I found an apartment for rent.

I use the case logic slrc-206 bag. Its great! Has a hard bottom so the main parts wont get wet when you put it down, and it stands up on its own. Its bright orange inside so its easy to see all your gear amongst your surroundings. Plus it has a computer compartment at the back, and lots of extra adjustable room in the main compartment

I'm using the Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 - awesome bag. Fits my DSLR, shotgun mic, viewfinder, 2 extra lenses, batteries, cables etc. I'm using the laptop compartiment for my shoulder rig, which fits perfectly when disassebled. When assembled, I can hang it on the side of the bag (that's where the DSLR Video comes from.

You can build your own transportable rig or tripod for cheap PVC pie. It's usually sturdy and shouild work fine for people starting out: ) The Indy Moguler Keith Hecker, who is brilliant with these kind of things, made a PVC rig. Maybe you can find and contact him to find out how, or commission one from him: )

Using a Manfrotto over shoulder backpack. Only has one strap and easy to sling over to reach for the camera, much like the Loewpro here. I love it and has separate strap for a small tripod and adjustable compartments for my DSLR. Looking forward to SXSW coverage and wish I could attend. :(

I use Case Logic SLRC-206 Because It fits all my stuff in one bag, including my Android tablet that I use as a Monitor/Remote controller. It also has place for a small tripod on the side. And it is very light and cheap. I learned about it from Dave Dugdale's review of camera bags.

Hello. I own a Canon 7D with the kit lens 18 x 135 and a canon 50mm. I am going DSLR retiring my Panasonic HMC 150. Question is what other 2 lenses would you recommend, I do video. Also a monitor that is reasonable I am open to a tablet that can be used as a monitor as well.

I have a Cosmos khaki green camera backpack, a Vanguard UP-Rise 38 and a Lowepro Adventura 170. The Vanguard, my newest bag fits my GH3 w/attached lens, GH2, 5 additional lenses, pocket rig, videomic pro, and 15 MBP and it's only a messenger bag! It does get heavy though.

I go for a much larger bag, Petrol CamPack, though I shoot with a camcorder and can also fit almost my entire shooting kit in the bag. As an extra bit of storage or for when I don't want to carry the pack, I also got a Tactical Vest from a military surplus store.

I use a Lowepro slingshot 302 aw bag. I really love how fast i can get to my dslr and lens configuration. I keep my 600D with a 17-40 mm f4l lens in the fast-acess-compartment. It also has lots of room for my lenses, mic and video light.

I like the crumpler 5 million dollar home. It's like his I might be shooting bag, but it looks even less like there's thousands of dollars of equipment in there. I carried it through 21 (mostly 3rd world) countries over a year with no problems

I've heard of numerous Hollywood producers making VFX students or smaller artists pay them in return for actual work on the film. And many of them do as they're told, because they want the experience and to learn things. It is not acceptable!
