Mark Hamill Reveals What Actually Killed Luke In The Last Jedi fanjoy: real jedi masters dont die in the battlefield just for pleasing the fans. they become one with the force, wich it means they become spiritual and eternitive, they come at peace with themselves and the whole creation. the dark and the light side of the force is exactly the same as if we are talking for heaven and hell, believing in god or the devil. the real saints of god dont die but become one with the holy spirit, they can extract power from god for good, make miracles for helping people, project themselves to other believers e. t. c. Likewise following or letting yourself open to the devil can destroy and bring chaos to the spirit of the man, twist your good will and make you hate everyone untill you hate yourself enough to destroy him. you can also extract great power, black magic and even spiritual gains but for the sake of bad and evil. now with all that consindered, i believe they gave an awesome way to end luke's fight to find peace. he used the good, the enlighted side of the force to protect and preserve the balance, without removing any life(only for defence like yoda said, trying one last time to gain back the lost ship(kylo ren) with spiritual fight with him and then became one with the light and the universe like the great masters before him. eternal! masterpiece!

Look, I dislike Star Wars Disney as much as the majority, and I'm pissed that Han and Luke died. However, both of those were NOT only Disney's fault. Harrison Ford always hated the character and only agreed to portray him again if Han gets killed off. Luke's death, on the other hand, was ALSO George Lucas' ORIGINAL IDEA. Just look up articles online (and he admitted so as well. Of course, I bet that Luke would've died differently under his direction. Still, the blame can't be put solely on the Mouse. People should research instead of just posting Disney killed off Luke wah wah! for the millionth time.

Although it was dissapointing in how he dies, but the fact that he dies with the same scenery as when he began his adventure, that being a binary sunset was a nice touch showing the seeming end of Luke Skywalker. If he returns in episode 9 is unclear, but we shall see. His death maybe dissapointing, but it had some meaning protecting Leia and the others from kylo ren. He could of did something better, but whatever the movie was dissapointing. Let's hope episode 9 will have a proper ending, but am not expecting much.

at first it's easy to say the writing is what killed everyone-and ultimately made the movie- LACKLUSTER - but the truth is- the Director hires the writers and approves everything they decide to use- so it's REALLY the director who killed the movie- but take solace in this my dear Star Wars Fans; Rian Johnson can not go back in time to destroy the Cult Classic originals- from '77 '80' & '83 - they WILL always be re-watchable- YOU GOT THAT JOHNSON? You CAN'T TOUCH THE ORIGINAL FILMS! And you Can't KILL STAR WARS-

The movie itself said why Luke died from doing his Force Projection. When Kylo and Rey first see each other, Kylo asks Rey if she was projecting herself. Then he quickly corrects himself, saying that if she was doing it herself, the power would kill her. I didnt catch this the first time I watched it, but when I watched it again after seeing Rise of Skywalker, a lot more made sense in Last Jedi, and I caught several things that were easy to miss.

Maybe it was because of the Midi-chlorians that killed him when he reconnected to the force? The sudden power could possible kill someone.
Fans left sobbing and crying. No, we left filled with anger, rage and disappointment. This legendary Jedi that beat Darth Vader and brought him back to the light, ends up dying for no good reason and has little to no impact on the film.

Qui-Gon informed Yoda after his death on how to become one with the Force; through selfless sacrifice. Yoda shared this with Luke. Snoke revealed that it takes a lot out of you to Force Project because he did it to connect Rey to Kylo. Luke Force Projected across an entire galaxy selflessly and died from draining his life/living force completely to do so.

He has to return theres a 9/10 chance he will the only reason I think he wont is cause the first trilogy was about meeting and training young anakin skywalker trilogy 2 is the adventure of Luke skywalker and trilogy 3 is the rise of Ben solo who isnt a DIRECT decendent of the SKYWALKER family unlike anakin and Luke and Leia skywalker

If you do a death scene that people don't understand and isn't shown in the movie as to how he even dies. And for a character that's been a key part in the movies for decades don't expect a good reaction, common sense could have told them that. That's without even getting to the part of how he actually dies in the film

I think Luke died like Obi-wan, his death made him more powerful and one with the force. He knew that rejecting it for so long was bad idea, yet he still did it. So he followed in Obi-wan's steps, Luke knew that coming one with the force would be the push Rey would need to become a great Jedi and save the Galaxy.
