These Honey Garlic Shrimp are very easy, incredibly delicious, relatively nutritious, absolutely beautiful, and fast to make. They re perfect over rice, stuffed in a roll, or stirred into noodles. Other than that, there s really not that much to like about them

Chef John, if you re going to eat the shrimp with your hands, you know you can skip the cutting with your fork step entirely to make it easier, right? Just bite down on the shrimp right next to the tail, then squeeze it to get all the meat out at once. Then you get the head and the tail in your mouth all at once. I ve actually never seen anyone eat tail-on shrimp with a fork.

Yay, I have all the ingredients in the house right now to make this. Chef John has definitely elevated my game when it comes to things I always have on hand. Fresh ginger? Check. Garlic? Check. And, so forth.
Really looking forward to making this.

Call me crazy but i hate the shells left partially on. I know it looks better, but it makes them harder to eat.
I also think you should have grilled them on a skewer instead of pan searing. I don t know how or why but fire makes thing good.

Can you substitute the shrimp for prawns if that's what you have?
Do you think it would affect the recipe very much, like would you have to change the cooking time etc. if you wanted to use prawns?

reply

Looks tasty!
Is it necessary to leave the tails on? It's not just messy to eat every delectable bite, but also wasteful if you have to simply use a knife to cut off the tail, shrimp-meat and all.

Can I use worshtershire instead of fish sauce, I dont have it on hand. I think I have oyster sauce. Do you think this would work on chicken? We love seafood but a friend doesn't. It looks so good

Sadly I hate all seafood, but that looks absolutely delicious. Definitely going to make it for friends and family.
And I bet some Aleppo pepper would be awesome.

If you could, could you deglaze the pan for a sauce/gravy to go over the top of the dish? If so what would you use to deglaze with, water, wine, or something else?

By the way, Beyonce loves that, or at least that's what I assume!
You're thinking of her lawyers, actually. They go nuts for that sort of thing.

Pooh I have a bag of shrimp I was going to cook tomorrow with brown butter and myzithra pasta. This may be happening with sesame noodles instead.
