Fun fact, this drink actually dates back to colonial times, and what you're going to do with that info I have no idea
Share it with my ESL students actually, sounds like a fun random fact they'd like to know! Cheers Chef John.

Chef, you are the best! I have tried many of your recipes and all of them came out perfectly! Please please share your version of chicken biryani. Chicken tikka masala it s a household favorite since I started using your recipe.

Looks really good.
The batter (called butter)with a generous splash of rum/brandy added is served on Christmas pudding in Britain
Or, if you are me, spread on hot crumpets or ooh, many other things.

I think the reason they call for melted vanilla ice cream in the other recipes is to get the rich custardy taste, though in this situation that's probably not vital given everything else in it.

A question coming from a genuine place; why do some recipes call for unsalted butter, but then call for added salt because we're using unsalted butter?

Can we all give props to Chef John for remembering to let the butter get to room temperature for the last few videos? Seems like he always used to forget.

Looks delicious! I'm a whisky drinker so I'm totally clueless when it comes to rum. What brand would you suggest? Wishing you and yours Happy Holidays!

why add water in two dose? so it wouldnt spill?
i would add all water first and the cold cream and rum later so it disolve more easily.
