I m not a big fan of drinking soda, but I have no problem cooking with it, and in this easy recipe we use a bottle of Cherry Coke to produce a tender, delicious, and absolutely gorgeous rack of baby back ribs. Gus: My method is slow cooking the ribs in a crock pot for 5 to 6 hours. I might try to pull some of the juices out of the crock pot about half way through and use it to make the sauce with some Dr. Pepper! I will also try the wet rub with the dry rub as well. I do put my ribs under the broiler for a few minutes.
Oh. I remove the membrane. I made ribs with and without the membrane. Not much if any difference, but it is fun to remove the membrane and it gives me the ability to look down on others who do not remove the membrane.

I've always wondered why the braising has to be done in foil instead of in a pan with a lid, since it's such a pain in the ass to deal with the foil. And even though it's never been satisfactorily explained to me, I keep doing it anyway, because to do it any other way would be wrong and my ribs would turn out like crap. right?

The missus has become a rib enthusiast recently. I usually use a stainless-steel baking pan with heavy foil over the top but the way this method keeps the juices as juices rather than fond has me intrigued. I'll have to give this a shot. I bet you could use that juice as a liquid when making refritos.

Scoring the membrane is absolutely the way to go! A box cutter is the best tool for the job.
But can you really call it BBQ if it's oven baked? Oven baked ribs are great, and these look outstanding, but BBQ should be cooked with smoke.

Surely it would be advantageous to apply rub to the bone side first? That would avoid smushing the meat side post-rub, and the bone side rub wouldn t get smushed at thanks to the shape of the bones.

Dang it! I just started (literally about 15 minutes ago) a rack of ribs on my smoker. I would probably have tried this, but mine are a fait accompli at this point. I'm committed to what I prepped.

I used a can of Coke to make wings once and they were delicious. When I told my guests they had Coke in them, they called me crazy lady. These ribs look so-o-o yummy!

They look great, but if you can't taste the cola or cherry, what's the point of using a high fructose corn syrup cola instead of honey, brown sugar, etc?

I ll have to modify this to put them on my smoker, unsealed, for at least an hour to get smoke flavor, then probably proceed as directed. Looks yummy!

Great, now I can finally start using cherry coke in my food, and restart my drinking of BBQ sauce! Thanks Chef John. You're an inspiration.

if you broiled the ribs in cherry cola and onions it would have a lot more of its taste. gonna be having tahiti treat ribs later tonight.
