This recipe is a variation on dipping sauce (ssamjang: , using a small apple instead of sugar. I eat it in the traditional Korean ssam style, in wraps of fresh lettuce and greens with multigrain rice. This way, it's a meal in itself. For Korean barbecue, I use regular ssamjang:

I made this again for the second time and I think I might be addicted! I am very tempted to just scoop this sauce up with a spoon. Even my husband, who is not a fan of spicy foods, loved this and gobbled it up. I served it with green lettuce, endive, beef pancakes, your mung bean sprout side dish, beef and radish soup, kimchi and of course rice! It was so good that I could hardly sit still while eating. I had to wiggle with joy. :) Thank you for the recipe, I know it's going to become a regular food for my family.
