Beit al-Mamlouka Hotel - To begin this Syrian food tour in Damascus, we’re starting with breakfast at our boutique hotel. Syrian breakfast is fantastic! Abu Shaker - Abu Shaker is legendary in Damascus for serving huge smoothies and milkshakes. Price - 30, 000 SYP ($2) Al-Hamidiyeh Souq - To continue this Syrian food tour in Damascus, we walked through Al-Hamidiyeh Souq, a market full of action where people come to buy just about everything. They make a special type of ice cream that’s pounded in a freezer cylinder and topped with crushed pistachios. I wish politicians weren't bigoted religious and racist at anywhere in the world. The extreme of the above-mentioned elements destroys harmony and co-existence of peoples. Ordinary Syrian deserve more than this. Oh man, they have million years of history on their soil. The Syrians I met over here were one of its kind. They invited me to taste their cuisine(hummus, falafal, baklava. The Middle-Eastern cooking methods and ingredients seem pretty same, be it in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Greece(although Europe, Israel or East African countries. I guess Mr Rami was a boy while the civil war was at its peak. They deserve more tourists who can contribute to boost their economy. Besides, the Syrians are part of the first ever civilization in the world, I mean, the Greek-Roman-Ottoman colonies are relatively new in that region that hold million year history, even before the first civilization.

Wow! Don't want this Syrian food series to end! Amazing people and hospitality of Syria. They deserve to get their due share of respect and proaperity from the global community. The last cafe was amazing. We need more such places to revive and crop up all over the world to save their own traditions and cultures.

Oh Mark! What a series we are having at present. The name Damascus itself is nostalgic and takes one back to history. Hope the war in Syria is over and all back to Normal. Syrians are one of the best people Ive interacted with. They dont deserve war. (In fact no one)

Thanks, Mark for that video, You made me see Syria which my Grandmother told me about how beautiful it was when she went there in the 1960's -1970's and how public people were kind. I always wanted to visit but couldn't because of the war there.
