Read the restaurant details here: T-shirts and eBooks: Northern Thai food is not very easy to find in Bangkok, especially good northern Thai food. I normally dont really even try to eat northern food, but typically just wait until I go somewhere like Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai. But recently Ying told me about a northern Thai restaurant on the outskirts of Bangkok and we decided to go check it out for lunch one mid-day. The restaurant, called Man Muang, is located a little distance from Central Bangkok, out on Ramkhamhaeng Soi 112, probably about a 45 minute taxi ride from the center of the city. The food was incredible, well worth the journey to get there. Man Muang ) is housed in a very nice old wooden house with open air walls and surrounded by banana trees. It really feels like youre in the countryside when youre eating there, and actually feels like youre back in northern Thailand. Theyve also done a great job of decorating the restaurant, with old antiques, some of which are for sale. I started the meal off with a bowl of khao soi gai, northern Thai style curry with egg noodles. Again, its hard to find a good bowl to find a good bowl of khao soi in Bangkok. Their version, while not the best Ive ever had, was still quite good. The curry was rich and thick, the noodles were good, and the seasoning was nice as well. What I really liked was the prik pao, dry deep fried chilies, pounded up into flakes to season the curry. That made it fantastic. Moving on, we next tried their gaeng hanglay, a famous northern Thai food, a pork curry. This was a very good version, and they used pineapple in their recipe, something I hadnt really seen in a gaeng hanglay ) before. It was really good, highly recommended. I liked the sweet and sour flavor from the pineapple. The dish that really lifted me into food heaven was the gai neung, a piece of steamed chicken topped in a load of curry paste. The curry paste was so thick and so rich that it was a full centimeter in thickness. It was amazing. The curry paste was extremely flavorful, yet it wasnt too salty or too spicy. I think there were garlic and shallots, and lots of turmeric in the mix, plus a handful of fresh cilantro and green onions to top it off. It was truly an amazing dish and next time I return to eat northern Thai food at Man Muang, I wont miss ordering it again. In addition to these main dishes, we also ordered a number of other northern Thai side dishes like sausage, aeb (a packet of fish with curry paste, and khao kan jeen. Everything was very good, and I can honestly say its one of the best northern Thai food meals Ive ever had in Bangkok. If youre looking for authentic northern Thai food in Bangkok, its worth making the trip out to Man Muang. Man Muang Restaurant ) Address: Thanon Ramkhamhaeng 112, Sammakon Soi 16 Open hours: 9 am 8 pm daily

Hey Mark, I noticed you wear the same green shirt in at least 30% + of your videos. Tell me your shirt size and I will send you some T-shirts. I've been watching you for years and it seems like you only have 5 different T-shirts. Maybe we can start a go-fund-me page to pay for different T-shirts so you don't have to wear that god awful green T. Thanks keep up the great videos

Mark, please make a video for those interested in visiting or moving there. It would be awesome to see how the houses look inside so we can see how they differ from what we are used to in the USA. Prices, cost of living, things to do, hotels, transportation, etc and how much money one would need to live a decent life.

So who films him? Do they eat all that good food though? Whenever I see him showing the plates of food, they always seem to be untouched. And since he explains it so well, I'm just wondering weather whoever is filming him gets really impatient and hungry watching him slowly taste all the food hehe

I remember when I had my first taste of Khao Soy in Chiang Mai - it was like a epiphany I learned to cook it immediately when i got back to my apartment in Bangkok. Northern Thai food in my experience is the richest, and most delicious of all Thai food.

The Thai ice tea is REALLY sweet I went to a Thai fast food restaurant in Vancouver, and as soon as I got home I had to brush my teeth or the sugar will rot them. Not recommended for kids or diabetics.

I'm hungry now. I just ate. I need to get an authentic thai cooking book to try some of this food And have a holiday to Thailand on the horizon. The hard thing is sourcing the ingredients in UK.
