Planting a Huge Metal Container! Garden Answer Bradley: Hi Laura, please help me to understand why you replace container soil every season. I've heard you say this numerous times in videos, and I can't help but gasp every time. I understand you want to start with a fresh medium for your plants with rich soil/nutrients, but at what economic cost? Each time I hear the plastic rip of a new Espoma bag, I die a little bit inside. Is there any way to enrich the soil so I won't need to keep replacing it? I'm a beginner gardener, and I'm aware of my false confidence bias; however, I'm still hesitant to continue investing in more soil because of the financial cost. Thanks again!

Hi Laura! That turned out so beautiful! Your choice of colors are mine, too! I love the purple fountain grass and wish it was a perennial in 7a. Do you know of a similar grass that would work? Also, when I've dug up the purple fountain grass the roots are so extensive and that's why I quit buying it as an annual because, with RA, it was getting too difficult to uproot. The end with Benjamin was so sweet! Thank you for sharing!

Lovely outro. Benjamin appears to have inherited mama's love of nature. He always looks so enchanted by the things you introduce him to in your garden. He looks so much more mature in his face in this video than in his last cameo. Growing up fast. Give him a kiss from his Auntie Lisa and pet the kitties please. Lisa
PS - I knew you would end up using another bacopa. Glad you did.

Hi Laura You have inspired me for the past 3 years - thank you! I took a screenshot of this container to ask my husband if he could make it. He laughed and told me that it's made out of duct work and that he could make me as many as I wanted for free. Just thought I'd share that information with any of the other gardeners out there that know people who work in the HVAC industry.

Love love love your videos! I miss seeing Aaron in front of the camera though, particularly the chit chat videos - Q&A, mailtime, etc! I see you using more bacopa this year and haven't noticed you using it very much before. I love it for its look but not for the constant deadheading it requires. How do you manage that? Is the PW version different?
And Russell's tail!

Hi Laura (and Fam) quick question, when you were talking about changing the soil every year if you have in insect problem. my lemon tree is in a container and I have it under planted with supertunias, which I noticed has bud worms, should I be changing out the soil in my planter?

I have a very small garden space and have to be careful with plants that like to spread. I absolutely love the look of lambs ear, but it seems to like to spread like wildfire in my garden. Are there some that don't or is it something you just have to pull when it happens?

I loved your comment about a sensory garden. Have you ever made one? How would you go about selecting plants for one? Im zone 8b so I know a lot of my plant choices might differ, but what would you look for in a plant for a sensory garden.

Hello! You planted some Peony tubers in May last year (instead of Autumn) can you give a little update on how they are doing? I have some tubers and I'm nervous to plant them in Spring instead of Autumn. Thank you for your amazing work!

I love the muted color scheme and size of this container! I'm definitely going to come back to this video in the future (once I can get my hands on a planter that big that I like! )
