Planting Garlic, Harvesting Berries & Tagging Dahlias! Hi Laura, My mom used to be able to grow anything. She knew the names of all her plants and had a green thumb like you. Me? Not so much, but I'm trying. You give me so much inspiration on a daily basis. Thank you!

I have so many questions about your dahlias!
What's the difference in performance between the ones your overwintered in the ground and the newly planted ones?
Since 40% of the overwintered dahlias didn't come up (and you presumably didn't realize they were dead until deep into planting season, how/when did you fill in the empty spots?

Love all the dahlias! I m in zone 4 and I feel like I got about two weeks seeing my dahlias bloom, even though I sprouted them early in the house. Any tips for getting to the blooming stage more quickly? Would it help to have them in big pots to keep the soil warmer?

ok. 3rd times the charm for me with garlic. Ist year I planted it in a raised planter - didn't make it through the winter (maybe not enough light, 2nd year I planted them in the ground and left them too long. This year, fingers crossed.

I am going to plant garlic this year for the first time. How often do you water in the fall when you first plant? Then when so you start watering in the spring and how frequently? I do not have drip irrigation. Thx

Morning all from Southern Illinois zone 6.
Beautiful sunny brisk fall day with the high in lower 60 s.
Out I go to plant some bulbs today and put a few hostas and heucheras from pots before the cold comes.

What I'd give for red raspberries. Most of time they're moldy in stores. I buy frozen for jams. Your so sweet about the raspberries. Just makes a person's day. Thank you so much. bless you. you.

Great video as always. Quick question if anyone knows does garlic need a cold/ dormant period? Curious as where I m based we don t get that and I would be interested in trying to grow some

Love seeing your dahlia patch. Good reminder to take them now. I have a few that lost labels and got planted but knowing what they are. Do you remember where you got the Katelyn s joy?

Really enjoyable listening to you and watching you do what you do. I've got about 160 dahlias this year but the show here is not so glorious as to what you have. Cheers!

Gorgeous Dahlias. So interesting to see how they are labeled and tagged to get ready for storage. Planting garlic, so informative. The flower garden is perfection

This is my first year growing garlic. We have been having unusually dry winters. If this continues, do I need to do any watering over winter, and if so, how often?

No pun intended, but you cover more gardening ground than I could think of indulging. But watching is like turning the pages of a book you can't leave alone.

Yes let s have a dahlia giveaway! Can you recommend a source for us to buy dahlia tubers? They sell out so quickly at the smaller vendors like Floret.

How do you get the bulbs? Can you go the to grocery store and buy the bulbs out of produce or is it a bulb that is bought through a garden center?
reply

So you only used your dibber for part of your garlic and resorted to your drill for the rest, what does that tell the viewers!
reply

Maybe you can put the dahlia tubers you re not keeping in the store for purchase? Just a thought if you have many to give away.
