To pile on here, Jeff could not be more right - if you're thinking of getting in shape as your new years' resolution just forget it, because you will fail. If it mattered to you that deeply you wouldn't have waited until the new year to start on it. You NEED to find something that allows you to overcome those exhausted, lazy days when you can't force yourself out of bed to work out. You need it when you're staring down that tray of donuts or whatever other junk food so you can have some discipline.
I started watching Jeff's videos about 5 months ago and took his motivational approach to heart. I didn't decide to wait for some big event to get into shape - I started immediately because I found my reasons that mattered to me. I wasn't in bad shape to begin with and had always maintained some level of fitness, but I wasn't where I used to be or where I wanted to be because I let injuries and excuses get in my way. In the past 5 months I went from 180 lbs/14. 2% body fat to 195 lbs/10. 3% body fat. I could not and would not have done this without Jeff's videos & programs. If you're on the fence about who to listen to about fitness because there are SO many people out there spewing advice, let me tell you that NO ONE knows more than this guy and if you listen to him and put in the work you're going to get results.
Happy new year!

This video was published 5 years ago and it-s still true to this day! So many people are always saying that they are going to do a New Year-s resolution but by January 8th it doesn-t mean anything. I remember the first week of every New Year-s the gym with go from standard too overly crowded with new people and by the 15th they-re all gone like they were never here. For me in the same year this video was uploaded I did my -New Year-s resolution- in the middle of June because I was sick of the same thing and decided it-s time to make changes and did. The things I said I was going to do I did nonstop every single day. For example I wake up at 8 AM drive down to the convenient store get an energy drink come back home jam on the guitar for an hour and then by 10: 30 AM regardless I stop what I am doing and go to the gym for 45 minutes and then I get ready and have a meal before I started my job at 1-9 then go home wake up repeat. I did it rely on lane ass praises to motivate myself.

Thank you Jeff. Your absolutely right in everything you said. I have used your advice regularly since March 2016. At 61 I've gained some muscle mass and my six-pack is starting to show through. I've NOT lost weight but I've lost fat staying around 185. So for 2016 I am satisfied. I need to stop the sweets (candy/cake) for 2017. I have the working out consistently at home down to a system that works for me (Mon-Thur 0400 -0500 hour) just before work. I rest 3 days and do it all over again. I do this for health and longevity reasons. When your grandfather dies at 69 (smoker, heart disease) and your father dies at 72 (chewing tobacco, stroke) you have to ask yourself what do I need to do to be NOT like them? Once again Thanks for the Motivation

I've been trying to lose weight since last year, but ive been losing it very slowly. I'm not super overweight but from years of doing nothing but sitting around I lost a lot of strength to the point where I can barely do 7 push-ups until complete failure. I don't look very fat but that's because it's distributed well (great genetics, I'm 6 ft and around 260 pounds. I can barely do certain workouts. I replaced some unhealthy eating habits with drinking water and I am well on my way to control what I eat, but I need workouts that I can do with minimal equipment because I don't have a job and can't pay for a gym (I'm still in highschool. I was hoping whoever reads this can help.

I wanted to find out what you thought about working out first thing in the morning. I once woke up one Saturday and ran 6 miles before eating anything. My trainer looked at me like I was crazy, he said the first thing your body uses for energy is muscle. (makes sense) So when working out first thing in the morning, should I eat a small snack before moving weight or running. Maybe you could do a video over that topic. No more 6 mile runs for me unless i have the proper fuel first.

Jeff, I have been watching all of your videos since August and these videos are huge motivators. I find all of the lifting tips awesome especially some of the knee stuff being another guy with bad knees. Every time I think about not lifting that day, I see one of your videos posted and I watch the video and head straight to the gym.
Keep up the good work in 2017!

This is a good video. What i do every year is this: Go to your word program on your computer and begin to take a list of all the resolutions. Type them out and post them at your desk, and 2 other places where you see your resolutions constantly. You will get them done and knock them out. You know how important they are that its best to have them in front of you constantly.

Appreciate your help and support, Jeff. Your videos gave me a direction to train and are helping me a lot, I know it's going to take time to get where I want to be but I will continue and be resilient, not give up, am targeting 2020 to get to my goal, slowly but surely. I can see and feel your concern for well being of everyone who watches your videos. Thanks a lot!

I appreciate being able to here these from you. Couldn't honestly feel more direct to my current situations. I've been very consistent with getting my daily daily workouts in a constant beneficial habit. No gut here, just a skinny guy trying to gain some mass, and push for more beneficial outlets than what I was locked into before. Thanks for sharing!
