Life Hack That Will Make Your Tools Last Forever GGALLIN1776: Try rem-oil (meant for guns, it has teflon in it) on the external, I used heavy grease on ratchet teeth & replace it every few years. Keeps em quiet too. Some of my tools are well over 100 years old, handed down from grandparents & great-grandparents. Now for Crap-on tools. Their warranty is a JOKE The teeth broke on a ratchet, they wanted to charge me due to it being 60+ years old along with some other excuses. In regards to their strength. bsI busted a knuckle removing a bumper, got angry & whacked the ground with my snap-on (14) ratcheting breaker bar. Bent the shaft pretty bad & took a chunk out of the pavement. They refused the warranty on that. Keep in mind when the crap-on sales rep showed up at my hs to sell us our tools, he said that they have a no questions asked warranty. BULLI bought mostly crapsman due to the lower price, but I had all those snap-on things inherited and/or bought for cheap at garage sales. Anyone still have the old bonney (now long out of business) tools with the painted on orange label? I have quite a few.

I love my tools its apart of my body for a man not to have tools in his life is like walking around naked. i wouldnt mine but who going to fix things when it breaks. my tools is with me everywhere I go lots of people say thats nuts but as soon as their car, motorcycle, house, or just anything they break yeah thats right they ask me the nuts one to repair it for them and of course I do cause thats what I do and every project only makes me more closer with my tool. so guys stop walking around naked and buy yourself some tools and learn how to use them and keep um clean

Ive been a mechanic for over 55 years I owned a shop for over 40 years I had 6 full time employees on and off I taught ASE courses for 5 years to mechanics for the state of NJ at nights and inspection emission testing on weekends. How the hell do you get the time to make the videos? I couldent even eat lunch. i was lucky to only work 12 hrs a day most days. And where do you get the trivia? You cant be working on all those cars unless you have eight hands. Signed please explain. Vinnie Green.

Another great video Scotty. Many of my tools are older than me I have spanners and sockets that came over to the UK in WW2 via the lease lend scheme from the USA (God bless you. They are much better quality than many modern products, and served me well through my working life in heavy industry. If I ever buy a product that has those little bags of Silica Gel in the packaging I put them in my tool storage, seems to keep rust at bay.

My dad complained for years about me or my brother never putting tools back. When they moved house, and built a new garage, I kitted out the end wall with loads of storage for tools, and a big sign reminding everything had a space to hang up on. Fast forward 20 odd years, and the only person using his tools is him (when hes not borrowing mine) and theyre all stored on the floor at the front of the garage: -D

Hey Scotty, did you pay 14 to have a 4 can of that Xado stuff shipped to you? I checked it out on Amazon and that is what it costs to ship. On the Xado website it costs 4. 45 and 15 to ship. I can not justify that kind of shipping cost for a 4 product. I can buy an awful of WD-40 or some other lube, at Walmart for 20. Im too cheap to pay that much for Xado.

Scotty aint kidding about mosquitoes. I contracted Asceptic (viral) Meningitis from a mosquito bite about 7 years ago while playing golf. I had headaches that were so severe for two weeks I was begging to be put into a medically induced coma. I was bed-ridden and couldnt even sit up to eat. I was dropping Vicodin like M&Ms trying to control the pain.

I have to admit using a spray on wax for a bunch of my tools, along with the WD-40 trick you talked about. The wax works pretty well, though ya have to buff off the wax. Works really well for that oddball tool that you dont get hold of very often, and when you need it, its set to go. Thanks Scotty. Good videos.

If you are getting gasoline on your ratchets make sure you lube them right after. I used a particular ratchet for carb work, one day it got covered in gas while I was using it and it seized up. I lubed it afterwards but it was to late everything inside was worn right out.

As An HVAC mechanic/commercial industrial service tech the 2 penetrating lubricants I swear by 1. Areo Kroil, 2. Strike hold Both are multi purpose and excellent penetrates. Frees up some nasty corroded nuts, bolts, pulleys etc. Liquid gold in a can
