I'm hoping that this Demi L. story helps people become warmer to the idea of Narcan. I've seen a lot of propaganda lately on social media, and in more conservative circles, and in circles of people over 40 saying that Narcan shouldn't be used, and that addicts should be left to die. If you're a person with feelings that cares about how well others fare, then it should be obvious that leaving addicts undergoing overdose to die is not only cruel and judgmental towards the addict, but also to that addict's family and other associations. How can we assume that this person means nothing to no one? If we leave addicts to die, what about other people that make poor health decisions? Anorexia: Leave to die; you should've eaten food. Diabetes problems: Leave to die. You should've checked glucose more regularly and eaten properly to maintain the right blood sugar. Heart attack: leave to die; you should've exercised regularly, and eaten a heart-healthy diet. Life-saving medical care isn't doled out only to those that have gone to some kind of court that judges whether they deserve to live because that would be cruel and insane. For those that are the kind of misanthropic types that believe few, if any people deserve to live, but care only about the orderly function of society, and properly placed funding. it turns out that leaving addicts to die would ultimately cost us more in funds and the ability to function well as a society. Our stats don't improve if problem people just die off. It just creates new sets of costly problems, grief, and disorder. It's good to see a lot of people in the comments here supporting addicts getting better. Who would've guessed Youtube would end up having more of the sane and kind comments, while the rest of social media degrades into prison yard insults and threats?

To whoever this find helpful. Sadly, I had to witness my ex boyfriend dying from heroin/cocaine overdose twice. Luckly, my first reaction was to call 911 or take him to the hospital. The staff brought him back to life twice. He still lives today. Hopefully. But knowing that those actions could've been prevented or they could've been stopped. He tried to convince me in his parties/hangouts to try but I always refused because the image and action of those nights always kept me from trying. I never once did anything. I tried helping him and talking about recovery; always refused and talked back to me leading to emotional abuse. I tried to save him but he ended up hurting me more than anything. I still wish he finds help. I left him because he just ended up hurting me to the point of trying to hurt myself. Seeking help isn't a bad thing and you won't hurt others around you if you try to look for help. Along with hurting yourself, you're hurting the people around trying to help you. Seeing the person you love in their deathbed is something no one should go through. Especially because you might never know if they do come back. Hopefully this helps someone.

I hope this offers some hope to someone. Maybe there's someone else who watches older PDS's too. I was a meth addict for 25 years. During the last 10-15 years I truly hated it and me. At 39 I was homeless, my child had quit talking to (completely, I had no friends left (fellow druggies are not friends, and my family was done with me. I went into a program for people with dual diagnosis which is addiction and mental health issues. It changed my world completely around. Next month, I will be sober for 11 years For the first time in my life my mental illness is (mostly) controlled (I'd started treatments at age 7. I know how hard it is once you reach that point o resigning and feeling like this is how it's going to be until you finally die. There is help. Also, people willing to stand by you who'd you previously lost. Once you show a willingness to change, people come back. You are loved and cared about, maybe not by you, but your family and some of your old friends do want to see you succeed. I want to see you succeed, even though we'll never meet please know there is hope and help

Demi's story and so many other celebrities should show everyone that it can be anyone. An addict isn't necessarily some criminal on the street. They are rich and poor. They are loved ones. They are people surrounded by hundreds of people at all times and still feel alone. You have this young, beautiful girl who has some amazing things in her life but she's still suffering from loneliness. We need better mental health care and better addiction care in America. We have the worse addiction rates and people are dying left and right. Lawyers, doctors, cops, teens, tweens, grandmas, and grandpas are dying at too high of rates. Instead of addressing the underlying issues, they are treated like criminals and cannot get the help they really need. Fortunately for Demi, she has the money to get good help so she has better odds than the majority of addicts but even for celebs, many of their rehabs they go to just spoil them.

So no mention that substance abuse is a CHOICE. So no mention of the damage these people do both on the micro level and the macro level like the cartels in Mexico. some junky crashed into my parked car and wrote it and another car off. She and her family did nothing apart from lying to her insurance company. it took two years to settle the case which was longer than the ban from driving. before people say its just a car i would have been killed if i had been in the car at the time. No these people are not victims they are perpetrators of crimes if they want to ruin there own lives fine but they get help and love and sympathy and the real victims are ignored. Funny how if you have a talent you can be a shitty human being but skate on it aguilera houston both junkies both horrible people but loved

I appreciate what you have to say about addiction, but I also wish to point out that it is indeed important to understand the specifics of the substance a person chooses to abuse. In many cases, substance abuse is less a disease and more a symptom. A person sometimes chooses to abuse a certain specific substance based on the fact that that substance actually fixes a genuine problem that they have. In such cases, it's more important to teach and encourage temperance rather than just trying to make the person avoid any and/or all substances. It's like you said, we're all broken half-people, and sometimes a certain substance, used responsibly, can be the glue that puts a few of the pieces back in place or fills in one or two of the gaping soul holes we all have.

My heart is so broken for Demi. Ive seen people very close to me struggle with addiction, so I know that addiction doesnt just go away. Its something people deal with everyday. Demi was so strong for so long and it just sucks so much that she slipped up. TMZ released the 911 call and the woman was so cold, it was disgusting. I also read something that said that she was partying with her friends that basically knew this was going to happen sooner or later, so they carried around narcan literally just to revive her when she overdosed. That alone makes me want to scream, theyre honestly so horrific and I hope theyre learning their lesson. I so hope Demi can get back on track, she is worth so much more than any of this.

Phil, I think you need a different concealer. The one you use is more of a yellow/olive undertone but you look like you have more of a pink undertone when under the lights and with the heat coming off you're turning redder. Idk if this even matters to you. Now on the content note, I believe in all you said on the Demi situation and the Viacom situation makes me think of the episode of West Wing where CJ noticed there are 3 or something companies that own all the radio stations and their subsidarie companies so she removed all but like 8 chairs in the press briefing room. Because no one was reporting the monopolizing of the media. Anywho. hope you're having a fantastic day and I love your beautiful face

This guy knows nothing about the Brock Turner case. Or he is just a big liar. He uses a quote from Emily Doe where she claims Turner jabbed pine needles into her. This is a total lie. There was nothing inside her at all. She apparently told that lie for two reasons. 1. To remove all doubt she consented. She did not want anyone but particularly her rich preppie boyfriend to think she consented even drunkenly. 2. To fuel rage at the sentence of six months. Making out with a drunk girl might only be worth six months in jail but sadism like jabbing pine needles inside clearly calls for a longer sentence. This was a delibrate manipulation of public opinion. Defranco is helping further the lies.
