Barbarians Rising: Boudica, Warrior Queen - History Ben: Ultimate warrior queen? That's just sad haha, also she was nothing but grotesque murder and by no means even a military genius or even contemporary. The old Roman estimates claimed a half strength legion slaughtered near 200, 000, like estimate too a more realistic 90, 000 Britain casualties with only like 400 roman. That's just disgusting waste of human life. If a modern general manage that they'd be executed for treason lmao

I think she was mostly a myth- here's a little test- put two average size males against two average size women in combat with spears/swords/fists, whatever you choose. Let me tell you the outcome, the women lose 99. 9% of the time. Period. She was probably a cermonially chosen leader who NEVER set foot in an actual battle. (Which wouldn't be atypical for kings and queens, as very few actually fought themselves)

If she had been a man, the naysayers in these comments would be telling everyone what a brave hero she was to face the romans despite being outnumbered and them being better equipped. But it was a woman and we can't give women credit for being brave for fighting against the powers that be - especially men. It's amazing how frightened men are, to this day, of strong women. It's kind of pathetic.

Her name was Boudicia (pronounced: Boo da See ah, not bloody Boudica, a pronunciation invented by some late 20th century post-graduate History idiots. The Roman's were the only folk who wrote her name and they called her, Boudicia. The Iceni tribe (and all other British tribes) didn't have any written records.

This series is absolute garbage - the Goths and Vandals were not -freedom fighters- comparable to modern protesters, unlike this show tries to say with its heavy-handed interviews with Civil Right movement figures who (absurdly) claim that -the barbarians of Rome were the first freedom fighters. -

Look, lady, I am sorry for what happened to your daughters (Centvrii really needed to put their Legionarii under control in the northern and eastern-most provinces). but you still got stomped and it makes me laugh.
AVE ROMA INVICTA. BRITONS ALWAYS DESTROY AT THE HANDS OF THE LATINS.

her story was pretty much a caged beast is most dangerous when backed at a corner. Shaka Zulu probably read about her. ya never know. Overall boudicca was yet another ancient female savage yet I feel as though she was more brutal because she fought in the wars!

One of the cultural issues that scared the shite out of the Romans was that the Celtic women fought alongside their men. there were stories that Romans and later English soldiers didn't mind being captured by the men but they feared the cruelty of the women.

Boudicca. One if the worst leaders in history.
A genocidal maniac that slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent civilians, then got crushed by an army 10 times smaller than her.
And people still glorify her. Feminism at it's best.

reply

The reason Boudicca is not celebrated that much is because women of left-wing persuasion do not celebrate her. She's not feminine enough and she shows too much masculinity that feminist in the 21st century believe is too toxic.

The price the Roman army paid for such a greedy & contentious power was, in the end its undoing.
It fell under the sword when the leadership grew increasingly corrupt & loyalty to that institution was in short supply.

reply

She only good at slaughtering unarmed civilians. The moment she and her army meet real soldier, even when they outnumbered them by 5-1, they got rekt. Never let a woman led your army.

I came here from the online game Rise of Kingdoms where Boudica is a popular epic commander. Now I understand why her character in the game have that set of skills and talents. Amazing.
reply

When i was growing up in the 1970s, in the UK we called her - Bo-wadi-ce-a- ( the C was pronounced as an S ). Boadicea. This Boudica term seems just the past 20 years i think.

Big question why is all the Celts dressed like Scandinavians? The -barbarism- of the native brits shown here is greatly exaggerated. the portrayal here is historically inaccurate.
reply

Why are people praising a person who led her army against civilians and ended up leading thousands of her own into a slaughter? Megalomaniac would be more like it.
reply

1: 16 How ironic that one day the descendants of Boudica would treat Irish, Scots, Welsh, etc. (as well as their own colonists in America) in this same way.
reply

As a Jew we relate a lot to the Britons, they were invaded and brutalized by the Romans it-s an absolute Shame that they-re gone now, solidarity with them
reply

So which version of the Boudicca movie is this I mean what year was this Boudicca movie made and who's the girl who played Boudicca in this clip
reply

I-m a celtic paganism practicing witch. I-ve meditated a lot and did a lot of tarot and found out about my past life. I was Boudicca lmao
