The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade is one of the most horrific and shameful parts of human history. From 1525 to 1866, an estimated 2. 5 million African people were forcibly taken from their homes and shipped halfway across the world to endure lives of brutality and abuse as slaves in the New World. Before they even reached the New World, however, 1 in 5 died because of the horrific conditions aboard the ships that took them across the ocean. We couldn't possibly sum up the tragedy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade in one video, and it would be insulting to try, but today we're going to take a little look at life aboard one of these slave ships and the horrifying truth of what innocent African people endured because of the slave trade

Unfortunately not a unique trade at the time and actually one of the least brutal slave trades. Certainly the best result for an African slave as opposed to the larger slave trades to Arabia and east Asia where only castrated males went most dying in that process. Interestingly the life expectancy of a sailor on those ships was similar to the slaves and they were punished in exactly the same manner. No that would imply balance.
Did I also miss the bit where you explained that the British Navy stopped the trade and ultimately ended slavery all over the world. Did I also miss the bit where Europeans were also victims of slavery from African nations in a very similar trade.

The horrifying truth is that the French. In the Spanish are the ones who took them out of Africa and bought them to America and sold them and used them to build their forts and slaves and then sold them to the White band. The white man did not take them the white man was poor I needed help working. The real enemy of the black man is the French and the Spanish. But still in the white bag who freed them and more white men died to get them freed but white people are still heated. This is a great evil.

You paint a grim picture, however, you didnt say a word about Irish slaves or how it was against the law to whip an African slave to death because they were considered more valuable than Irish slaves. If you wish to portray history, strive for thoroughness and accuracy. You could also discuss modern day slavery. Remember, by the time the African slaves were sold to white people, they had already been sold at least once, usually by other black or brown people.

You should have mentioned the facts concerning how it was Portugal who first started slave trading with the African kings, (who were taking slaves after successfully taken over a rival tribe, and point out the British were the last country to join in, also it wouldnt have done any harm by explaining how it was Britain who with the cost of British sailors lives and money put a stop to the Atlantic slave trade.

Its worth pointing out that slavery was around long before the trans Atlantic slave trade took place, entire empires were built using slaves, roman, Persian, ottoman, Mongol, etc etc i could go on and on, let history teach us about these terrible times, but lets not use these terrible times for our own political agenda.

every race has endured slavery at one time or another. as a greek american greeks became slaves to the turks and romans at one time. totaling 900 years i believe. but with the african slaves they were gathered and sold by african slave traders who would catch them from local tribes and trade them for goods.

By the 1690s, the English were shipping the most slaves from West Africa the British maintained this position during the 18th century, becoming the biggest shippers of slaves across the Atlantic.
and more than half of the entire slave trade took place during the 18th century.

Capitalism and the joys it brings to the world.
Have no doubt, at the end of the day, the promulgation and perpetration of these horrors, are part and parcel of the values of any and every individual advocating for or defending capitalism, with no exception.

What about the black slavery in ancient Egypt, in I$lamic world?
What about the European peasantry that was abused for centuries by their owners?
Be careful! The war against an old ideology, becomes itself a new ideology (Herbert Marcuse)

As a white American man, I understand how terrible this was for people, but I feel zero guilt, as it wasnt me who did these terrible things. I am not culpable for the slave trade, nor the racism that followed the freeing of the slaves.

Far less than the arzb slave trade, more slaves, death, last longer, in fact still exists! ONLY EUROPEANS CONSIDERED SLAVERY AS IMMORAL, BANNED IT, EVEN FOUGHT TO END IT! Even China imported african slaves but only neutered slaves!

Search for ships like MARIE SERAPHIQUE: Horrible conditions for the slaves on-board during the Middle-passage' Atlantic crossing, losses of lives and profit of the European slavers stated in a list below the ship painting.

Africans slaves were very expensive to buy.
Just imagine people traveled all over the world to purchase African people as slaves and the world thought it was okay. I don't know how they Justified it back then.

I totally think african Americans need more gratitude than what they get. it's sad 2 know majority of white ppl in America had ancestors who were owners. I can't imagine. damn it makes me hate my own race.

The chieftains, kings and queens of Africa sold their people to the Egyptian slave traders who later taught the trade to the Arabs who then passed the trade to the Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch and British.

And WHITE slaves captured by NORTH AFRICANS in the 17th century were CASTRATED and sold as galley slaves. Much worse than a nice sunny plantations eh. Of course you never hear about that!
reply

You should also show Africans and Arabs trading with slaves. They were more involved in slavetrade than whites did.
Don't forget to mention the Turks. They were biggest slave traders.
