I am a lithuanian, please dont take this too seriously.
I remember a day ago i entered a video marked winged hussars. Sabaton. Cool video and all, but only polish flags, no mentions of lithuania in the comment section, not even a word COMMONWEALTH. Hungary felt the same woth austria probably. So did norway with denmark.
History repeats itself, because nowadays poles have a bigger population, more supporters and their excuse for being mean to us is: we want to unite.

It's just a rule of pars pro toto for simple designation of country. It is the same as it was often with United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland when it was, and still is often called just 'England' or 'Great Britain'. And also feudal dependence played important part in this context. Lithuanian grand duke became king of Poland but kingdom ranks higher than grand duchy so in his titulature kingship took precedense.

You should reiiterate that concept of nationality was very vague until XVIIIc. this kind of material enhances post soviet propaganda that Poland was not a good brother to Lithuania.
Also the act of union was written in Polish only, its quite visible how little concern there was back then to conservate separate culture. This polonisatrion was not enforced, it was own will of Lithuanian nobility

I agree, Grand Duchy of Lithuania was doing just fine without Poles, they sacrificed too much for that wrenched commonwealth, just to then be sidelined, back-stabbed and robed in broad daylight by those so called allies.
Oh well, live and learn. I'm sure from now own Lithuanians will be watching their backs more closely whenever a Pole is around.

I mean for Lithuanians being only 1 million and still having own huge chunk of land and separate duchy and before the unification Lithuanian duchy extended to the Black Sea. I think we did pretty good history when there are larger populations out there without as much historical representation or rule over land.

Pseudo scientific Polish propaganda.
To all the Polish people out there; yes you have the right to exist, we love you all! Do not be ashamed of the fact that Lithuania was the dominant factor in the commonwealth. Just be happy you share a history with all those great Lithuanian warlords!

you need to learn much more about these countries history and relationship if you really want understand why two nation republic appeared and how it worked. Video title and facts are correct, but misleading, better understanding requires deeper historical knowledge.

I think it is very important that Lithuania is mentioned, since before the union Lithuania was the larger of the two thanks to this Poland managed to become so strong. Sorry for the bad English but I'm Italian and I'm trying to improve my English

The thing is though: WHO made the lithuanians adopt polonisation? Yeah, poland takes the blame for it as for not preventing it as the dominant culture and state but it was never an official policy - certain poland otakus just got too much power

German and Hebrew weren't official languages of PLC. The ruthenian was because the Lithuanian spoke ruthenian and latin. The Lithuanian language as we could it today was only used by by small group of villagers in Western Lithuania

The most ironic thing is that the original Union of the two countries traces to Jogaila, a king of Lithuania who began the Jagiellon dynasty. Not unlike what happened with Scotland

What is sort of relevant and missing is that Lithuanian capital Vilnius was so polonised people in Poland felt it should be polish city - after WW1. And so it was.

Meanwhile, I'm 50% Lithuanian and 2% Polish in my genetic make-up, so I guess you could call me a reverse Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth lol
