For sake of interesting series of events and story to tell, out of this list nightmare disorder paired with many things, but I'll elaborate
I have C-PTSD and severe sleep apnea, I've always had common nightmares but the last couple years I'd have sleep paralysis, night terrors, and multiple different or reoccurring nightmares in one night, at one point having 5 nightmares in a row all of which I woke up in physical distress, I had so many nightmares and experienced sleep paralysis fairly often (about once a month or every other month) that I developed somniphobia, and insomnia. My body would be physically exhausted but I'd keep moving until I'd just break into sleep, I've been awake for more than 24 hours on multiple occasions and atleast been awake for more than 36 hours atleast twice, I also have psychosis, and I'd experience tactile hallucinations especially when I was sleep deprived, specifically feeling like there was bugs crawling all over me, specifically small ants, where I felt like I had to shake them off, fast forward, the only thing that helps me sleep now, is streaming horror gameplays, cause it's hard for me to have nightmares or anxiety about going to sleep or while sleeping when I can hear someone going through a scary story, but also joking, or reviewing it in the background, aswell as, it's a video that I can change if I really don't like it, I can just pick another, unlike nightmares where it's kind of hard to pick, so if I'm stuck dreaming or feeling like I might dream about it, I'll just change it to something I'm more familiar with. I have at points gotten very physically ill attempting to sleep in new environments that weren't the one I was decently used to aswell, I ended up throwing up and getting headaches cause my body just couldn't handle the change of environment

I was actually diagnosed with restless limb syndrome a few years ago. Mine I guess is actually worsens sometimes once Im asleep. Ive been told stories of accidentally kicking my grandma when I was very young (she did a good majority of raising me) if I crawled into bed with her because I was scared. Or in college I would sit straight up throw my pillow across the room and calmly lay back down not remembering any of it. My doctor put me on medicine for it and it helps. I get more restful sleep and dont have to worry about accidentally injuring myself (had a few time accidentally smashing my wrist on my night stand/ trying to pull my covers over and accidentally punching myself. My vocal chords also get bent or something (do not remember the specific details as there isnt anything that can be done about it) so I have been told it sounds like I am trying to talk/moaning in pain, doctor said my oxygen levels were fine so they are not too concerned and with the type they think it is there is nothing that can be done about it. Long story short I have a lot of sleep issues. It can be frustrating at times so I have just learned to take it one night at a time.

So lately, I've been having this sleep problem that keeps me awake at night. Whenever I am about to fall asleep and have a glimpse of my dream, my body automatically wakes me up for some reason even without interruptions. I wear earplugs and all I see and hear nothing during these moments. It's like drifting into subconsciousness just to only be brought back to reality. I experience this for hours before being able to sleep and it drives me crazy. The last time I experienced this was during a traumatic event. Now, this feeling triggers every time I get woken up during my sleep by a sudden noise. Then a day after that, whenever I sleep, I get woken up for no reason even though if my surroundings are quiet and dark regardless of being happy, sad, stressed or angry. This kind of sensation lasts for about a day but now, it lasted for three days.
Someone please help.

I experienced the Nightmare disorder for about 7 years? I would always have the same or similar nightmare every Halloween. It made me very anxious to go anywhere and I never felt safe in my own home for weeks. I couldnt distinguish sometimes reality from the dream. I was very paranoid during my episodes. Until finally theyd just go away. Only to return again next year.
Eventually it got so bad one night that I was awake sobbing at night because I couldnt go back to sleep without reentering the nightmare. I cried myself to sleep and since that night Ive never had those nightmares again.
All I remember before falling asleep was this feeling of serenity and calmness. Like a baby bird being covered by the wings of its parent. It was so odd feeling, but Im glad the nightmares are finally gone.

Nightmare disorder is the worst. Dreamed I choked up half a lung and was dying alone in a field last night. Worst thing about it is doctors either can't or won't prescribe medication that will reduce/get rid of the nightmares. When you have a nightmare disorder, rest is a luxury that is infrequent. I have nightmares inside nightmares inside nightmares. I have been in post-apocalyptic war zones having to find cover long enough to doze, other times I live entire lifetimes only to be jarringly thrown back into my true life and people I have created in my mind, parents, siblings and children are just gone. Its hard to keep going sometimes.

I have nightmare disorder. It's not fun. And most people brush it off as I'm complaining about nothing, but they have no idea what having nightmares everytime one closes ones eyes is like. They range from waking up in a cold sweat to waking up screaming. The other night I was thrashing and actually threw out my back and bruised myself in several places. My partner sleeps in a different room when we are home together and perfers night work. He finds it absolutely heartbreaking to see me in this state. It's been happening forever. When I was kid my dad would yell at me and both my parents were convinced I was doing it for attention.

I've been having sleep problems for several years, where I go to bed at the regular hour, (let's say 10: 00, and then inexplicably, I wake up at 1-3 AM for seemingly no reason. And then I cannot fall back asleep until it's nearly 6-8. Then I sleep till it's 12 or 2 in the afternoon.
My parents think it's phone and wifi related, but I've had this issue without my phone or wifi for weeks at some periods, and the problem persists. How can I fix or at least know what I have, because my parents are stripping everything away from me because of it. I need help

so I scream or kick when someone wakes me up I remember one time my sister tried to wake me up I and screamed for 30 seconds to a minute and I remember my sister being scared and holding on to the door when I became conscious and the time I kicked my tutor when she tried to wake me up I've only seen it happen when woman try to wake me up it could be caused by my mother abusing me but it could also because I have no brothers or other men to wake me up in my life

I was diagnosed with RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) several years ago as well as insomnia and a night terror disorder. RLS is freaky to say the least. I often jerk my legs so bad that I startle myself and others around me awake and I won't know what caused the sudden scare until people tell me. Night Terrors are worse than nightmares unfortunately because they're more realistic and harder to wake up from which can cause you to not hear your alarm

I'm Narcoleptic, so is my Dad, and my mom but to a Lesser degree than my dad and I, accord to my parents sometimes I talk in my sleep (they've witnessed it, they told me that I went from laying down on my sitting bolt up right, where I sleeping and said reference a line the British sitcom Black Adder, I said according to them Baldrick, I have a cunning plan. Then I proceed to lie back down as nothing happened. I find this hilarious.

I am sleeping 8hr in night and take after noon nap for 3 to 5 hr but still feel dizzy, sluggish and completely exhausted and no concentration.
I also have rls in both legs and hands, also my breath stops sometimes for sometime and I have to breath through mouth.
And the worst I have an irresistible urge to check things like closing door, turning of switch, or whether I packed all things in bag, or drop something from it

I have nightmare disorder. Ever since I was a child I've never once had a good dream. It happens several times a week if not every night. I'm always tired, and it even becomes extremely difficult to differentiate my dreams from reality. It can ruin my whole day, or even week depending on how serious the topic of the nightmare was. I didn't find out there was an actual disorder for it until just this week, and I'm 20. Ouch.

Usually I can sleep through the night quite well but then I started having lots of dreams and waking up in the middle of the night now I wake up two or more times and all my dreams are nightmares and I can't think of anything I've done that could cause this but I haven't gotten a good nights rest in about a month and a half but I am still alive so I guess I'll be okay

Me: Yes, brain. Great time to remind me of all my responsibilities. While Im trying to sleep. :)

I have nightmare disorder, I don't always wake up during my sleep but I always feel bad for the entire day due to the horrible things I see during my sleep.
For the restless legs syndrom, I experienced it due to a medication named Abilify, used for mood regulation. It's a well-known secondary effect of this medication.

I didnt know that there were names for most of this stuff but ive experienced most of them. I mostly have sleep paralysis sleep talking and sleep walking but i have always had sleep issues. I started researching it since i had a baby knowing how hereditary these are, i got it from my dad. All of this is so interesting

omg! i been feeling those things on my legs for as long as i ca remember but i always thought that it was because i was tired but after seeing this video it kinda makes sense, i know this isn't doctor's diagnosis but i least i can talk about it with him and see if it can be related (i'm really bad at english, sorry)

I've had nightmares my whole life. Pretty well every night.
They don't really wake me up fully from sleep anymore.
But I wonder if they're preventing me from getting a restful sleep. I'm always tired when I wake up, often times more tired until I can recall the dream and try to work through it.
